I currently have the white padded vinyl which covers my galley cabinets and other pieces inside the cabin. I'm wondering if anyone has removed the vinyl and the chrome strips which hide the seams and covered with a wood veneer? Doesn't look like the entire inside would require much material and would make a nice upgrade. I've used veneers and other materials before so I feel comfortable with the application and then the finishing/sealing to get a good results. Just wondering if anyone has gone before me on this one.... and if you have pictures of course I'd love to see them! Question for everyone is how do you think it would look since the original fiberglass counters in the galley and the head would remain? I'm looking at keeping this boat for quite a while so want to go ahead and update the interior - cushions, flooring, etc.

Adding picture of my current galley:

Thanks Doug - that is the post which actually inspired me! Not sure how it would turn out on a smaller boat - but certainly like the wood in the newer cabins. Well - I may give it a try - the windy/rainy months for me are Feb and March so I'll see how bored I am at that point!

Have you looked at the photos on Restoration Marine? They look awesome and some are from smaller Sundancers...

Just another thought for you... replace the white vinyl with black vinyl.

Good pictures on that site - thanks for the link. They sure are proud of their laminates! Would be convenient though since it's prefinished and has adhesive already to use.

I had thought of that - I think I'm just tired of the vinyl though. Then there is that wonderful chrome strip which wont stay in place....

I know:smt101. I've been hesitant to remove mine for fear of not getting it back on correctly. I've been slowly upgrading my boat to black and silver colors instead of the gold. I'd like to do something with the interior trim, as well. I think I'll wait and let you be the guinea pig!
