Insurance recommendations

I have USSA and asked them bout insurance a few years back and i was told they would send me to Boat Us. there cheapest quote is 1300 a year.

I guess I need to keep shopping. I never had a marine insurance claim.

So far it looks like NBOA shopping it around is the winner. From my research it appears since I'm a new boat owner the price will be a little higher for the first year or two. Does that sound right?

As a new boater, you may be able to help get the premium down by taking a CG approved safe boater course, if you do not already have one.

I switched to Ace 2 years ago..... I like the premium, hope I like the company.....anybody have any experience with them?

My stingray 200MS was covered by USAA, when I bought the Sea ray Weekender "aka the party barge" they sent me to Progressive for USAA members. I'm getting both boats covered for a little more than what I was paying USAA. They must figure you can only use one boat at a time. Get that boater safety class first it will help with the cost. For towing insurance I use the unlimited Boat US membership and Progressive. Chesapeake bay and off shore tows can get up into the triple zeros fast.

Again, good advice here so far...

I had my boat insurance with State Farm (same as my auto and home) at first. Then I shopped around... NBOA is a broker as describer here. They saved me big money several years ago. Over the past couple of years, my premium started climbing (no claims), so I called them a few weeks ago to inquire about the increase. In the end, they wrote me a new policy with a newly acquired company that got me back down to a beter premium, similar to what I had in the beginning, with better coverage!

Here's knocking on wood:smt021, that I never need it!

i switched from State Farm as well last year to NBOA and they placed me with AIG. Premium went from $1300 to $450. Now I'm about to find out how well their claim service is. They didn't bllnk at a $5000 extraction bill yesterday.
