I'll be replacing my 4 old batteries with new ones this week on our 2001 340 SD. Any special instructions needed?

I would check out this thread:

Also, you haven't gotten responses as this is not the forum to post in. There is an Electrical Stuff thread under Maintenance. Many people aren't looking here for this kind of post, or at all. Of course, the thread I pointed you to wasn't there either. :smt043

Thanks for the heads up! I did try searching threads for this but nothing came up. Site is a little hard to know what and where to post. Appreciate the site reference.

The two in the aft are PITA to get out... You will need to pull out the one closer fist, then the farther one... Put the farther on in first.

Take pictures of how all the wires are connected and label the connections before you remove anything. That will make it a lot easier to put it all back together again.

If you haven't bought the batteries yet, Sam's club has good prices on Duracel AGM's.

Gracias amigos! Installed this evening, no issues. Ready to launch this weekend.

The mechanic that does most of the work on my boat could be a contortionist at the circus. He's a freak of nature. I don't know how he gets around the engine compartment in my 340DA the way he does. We put new batteries in this year also, and those two aft batteries are a bear to deal with. There's just so little space left with those 8.1 monsters in there! I had to crawl back to fix a bad bilge pump, working upside down, laying over the top of the engine, blood rushing to my head. It's like a torture chamber down there :smt021

(But, when I'm cruising along with friends and family aboard, it's all worth it!)

Wear old clothes. Apparently my old batteries must have leaked as I burnt several little holes in my shorts from drips of battery acid :)

I have a 2000 340DA, so exact same layout as yours and I am replacing my batteries this weekend (hopefully). I am hoping that by removing the pin that attaches the motorized ram that lifts /lowers the hatch, I can open the hatch much further to allow easier access into the aft section of the bilge.
