installing a gps chart plotter

I am about to install a standard Horizon 180I on my 2002 280 DA.
Im looking for any suggustions. My major concern is in wiring the unit to my circut breaker box on the starboard side next to the helm seat. Do I need to disconnect the power before i connect the unit any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
 
Might as well turn off your batteries at the switch, but you really don't need to. Connect red to any open slot and black to the common ground.

Make sure you install an inline fuse on the positive source for the GPS.
