On my 89 340da how do you put the radar dome on the arch? Does the arch come apart or do you cut a access hole in the center?:smt100
Thanks

Do you have an access panel on the bottom of your arch?

To answer your question, you drill a small hole for the cord connector. The wire goes thru this hole with a water tight cord connector / fitting. On the inside it’s secured with a locknut.

You also drill small holes for mounting.

You may or may not need a radar mount between the arch and radar.

Did your radar come with installation instructions?

Their is no access hole in the center of the arch only the 2 lights. So I guess I need to make a hole in the bottom of the arch and get a cover plate for it. How do I cut a hole and not cut the wires that are in the arch?

Carefully!!!!!
Actually if you use a 4-5" hole saw and go real easy, you should be fine. Good luck

just bought an access cover plate a my local sea ray dealer for 8 bucks. I just reinstalled my radar over the weekend. You may need to have anouther acess half way down the side of the radar arch as well. And then remove an acess panel somewhere around the helm seat. That way you can start your wire snaking from the dash, work it along the side, up the arch, and into your dome.

If you need a radar mount, or some guidance on mounting it properly for best performance, check out www.battlewagonmounts.com. Polished stainless and the site has a lot of good direction and a horizon calculator.

A suggestion for you...when you snake the wire up through the arch, pull a length of parachute cord (or other lightweight 1/8" nylon rope) along with it. That way if you ever have to snake another wire up there you can use the parachute cord to pull it through.

I did this the first time I had to snake a new wire up to my anchor lite. I pulled the parachute cord with the wire and have used it a couple of times to pull new wires up. Just leave the parachute cord lying there when you get the wire pulled. It needs to be long enough to reach from the bottom of the arch to the place where you cut the access hole, with some left over on each end to work with.

When you use the cord (or rope) to pull up a new wire, pull another length of rope with the new wire. This way you'll always have the rope up there for future use.

I have an 89DA and installed my Raymarine radar dome. I have a access panel in the middle underside of my arch. I don't see why you would not have the same.
You have to pull the starboard panel away from the side to run the cable. PM me and I will explain.
