I think the releases were prompted by Ursay wanting Andrew Luck as the draft pick and he fired anyone who didn't agree.

Regardless of the draft pick or PM's future issue, I didn't have confidence in Caldwells leadership or decisionmaking abilities. Great guy, good assistant coach, but not sure he's best suited for running the entire show.
You can't tell me he shouldn't bear at least some responsibility for putting together a very sub-par team personnel-wise; the defensive schemes they run; and the increasing number of breakdowns they've had on defense and special teams over the past 3 years--breakdowns are coaching in my eyes. At a bare minimum, coaches must be able to make a team fundamentally sound (i.e. tackling) and instill the discipline necessary to perform (i.e. stay in the zone you're responsible for). Either he couldn't teach effectively enough or he couldn't get his players to perform. They were just flat out inept in several games this year in all phases of the game. I don't blame PM's neck or Polian for everything.
