In search of a good dinghy cover

im tempted to just order one of those, my canvas guy is way backed up

I have a nice cover, almost canvas like, that is a heavy pita. Twice when wet, lately not very waterproof. I keep mine on a rack, I have a time getting it over the far side without climbing in it and the rack is not made for me to be wobbling in the zodiac. all I really need is a lightweight plastic like cover to keep rain off. I would like one that has a drawstring around the edge to tighten and keep secured.
So far no search results. Looking for cheap. Any suggestions?

So you are looking for a light, plastic, self covering, self fastening, self cleaning , self water proofing, self folding, self storing, cheap cover ?….. sorry… we are hoarding those and you can’t have one.
But there are these…. They are getting good reviews

Just received my Sun-Dura cover from Boat Covers direct and it doesn't fit well with my 15 HP Merc. The ad says it accommodates outboards but there's not enough material to fully go over the tube ends due to the engine height, fits fine without it but that's not an option. Anybody else have this issue?

That doesn’t make sense…. Did you talk to them?…. Mine would easily fit with a 15hp as the outboard isn’t that much bigger

Mine also said it wouldn’t fit with the engine in the upright position but it’s fine. It’s the Highfield 310 in dura fabric as well, 20hp 4 stroke

I'll try to get some pics tonight, my dinghy's still on the trailer so the outboards not in the exact position as when on the platform but not much change when tilting it to the rough angle. Have not called yet since it just came Friday and I was heading out the door to the marina.

It is a tight fit…. At first I didn’t think mine would fit…..play with it a bit.

Here's a pic with the engine in the down position, I think this would be acceptable however I cannot leave my engine in that position on the platform.

Here's a pic with the engine at a similar angle to how it will be stored on the platform. It just doesn't want to fit over the tubes fully and is very tight on the cowling. I'm sure it would rip through the cover in short order.
