After lots of throttle pumping(no choke) and a few sessions of 5 second starter cranking she sputtered to life in a cloud of smoke. I don't know why I am so amazed every year that she starts and then runs sweet. The boat shows over 1000 hrs but the block has about 350 hrs and the head less than 100hrs. She ran up to 4500rpm at 29 knots which is respectable for a 1987 with small block and Floscan showed 10 gal/hr at 3200rpm and 20 knots.
Went on a shakedown cruise with my 14 yr old dtr out to a local hang out island but wound up back in our home creek as it was cool and windy.
Only gremlins that showed up were the trim guage was jumpy and either showed all the way down or all the way up with some jumpy wild needle swinging in between(new sending/limit units only 2 years old)(':smt009')The other was my freshwater pump that needed a wack in the nose with a hammer to get it running, a pre season ritual for the past 3 years.

there's something special about the smell of vinyl, the water and fresh air for the Shakedown cruise out! Glad it worked out (and thanks again for helping out my Admiral! )

Eddie,
Glad your start to the season was better than last year. Where did you find water? Was on the boat today but had to climb down to it!

Walt,
Hopefully down was easier than up. After I buttoned up the mooring cover at the transom I was standing on the swim platform trying to figure out how to get up the bulkhead. I did manage to climb from the folded up swimladder to a cleat on the boat to a cleat on the dock and nearly fell backwards. Skinned my knee but, hey, no guts- no glory.

When I last saw you your teak was looking mighty Bristol. Are you involved in any major projects or just planning to enjoy for a while?
Regards,
Eddie

Eddie,
No major projects! The bilge is dry, the slight oil leak was a valve cover gasket and the starter problem resolved, life is good. I need to install the new anchor rode and hopefully get the generator working properly. See you on the water.

Walt
