I've got a 1990 22cc. Does anyone know if it's got 1 or 2 impellers. I've heard it might have a upper on motor and a lower in the outdrive.

Hello,

Mercruiser part number 593621

But do you have the 5,0LX the 5,7 or the 7,4 engine?

The size of the motor is not the determing factor - the type of outdrive is. If you have a Bravo (I, II or III) then your impeller is located externally on or very close to the motor. But if you have an Alpha (very likely on an older 22') then it is located in the upper part of the lower unit. I don't know which part # Peter is referencing, but I'm pretty sure the impellers are different for Alpha and Bravo.

Here's the Alpha: http://www.sterndrive.info/alpha-one/parts_drawing_lower.html

Here is the pic for the bravo nr.

I thought that the alpha type was more common on the older than '90 type's

I had the same boat, with the 5.7 and the Alpha One. It has one impeller in the outdrive. I used to change it about every 2-3 seasons.

Yeah, it's got an ALPHA ONE outdrive. Thanks for all your help with this. That's why I love using this forum. It's like family. Thanks again.
