IMMACULATE 450DA NOW FOR SALE

If anyone has recommendations for transport companies please let me know. I'd like to get an idea of the actual shipping cost. Thinking 10k. Hope it's less. Running by water isn't an option I'm sure....thats a long boat ride to Maryland!!

Thats not a terrible ride. My buddy ran his 410 DA from NJ to Punta Gorda Isle and back for years. Now he runs his 50 ft Viking back & forth to Chesapeake from Punta Gorda Isle every year. I'd seriously consider this option. Its not cheap but, no breakdown required & more fun than a trailer!! Best of luck on the purchase & subsequent transport!

I couldn't afford the time off for the trip in addition to the regular scheduled family vacations, etc. I'd have to get it trucked to me or hire a captain. And getting it delivered to NC or VA would hardly cut the costs although the ride from there would be pretty easy at that point.

I am having a 2015 410 moved right now from California to Patchogue NY I have to take off the radar, props and skegs off the pods.
Chris from US boat haulers is doing it for 16.500.00
Call him great guy. 940-391-5565

Also, try C & J Transport 772-201-3444
Jim has moved boats for me before and does an excellent job with awesome communication along the way.

My gut was right with the 10k guess. Doesn't include prepping the boat which I imagine is removing props and radar dome and lowering the antennas. Nor does it include the recommended shrink wrap. No way to cut costs here, moving a boat this size will cost some coin!

I was looking to move 42” boat from Charleston to Long Island. Got quotes from $8000-$12000. Not including prep or travel lifts to load/unload. I was not going to wrap it for travel since the factory doesn’t do that.

The lower rates were to fill a deadhead backhaul.

This time of year and moving an open cockpit boat, you will spend the rest of the year with tooth brushes trying to clean all the sooty road film out of every nook and cranny in the dash, the panel and the seats.
So true. I had my 370EC transported from Maryland to Seattle a few years ago, in January. When it arrived, my broker forbid me from coming to meet it (he took care of all the post-delivery inspections). He didn't want me to be disappointed when it got here and was a filthy mess. We hired a boat cleaner to come in and clean from top to bottom before I was able to see it. She spent 3 or 4 full days doing that, and I still am able to find road grime when I remove panels or access hard to reach places to this day.

For comparison, I spent $14k on shipping, plus another $2-3k on prep (radar and prop removal, shrink wrap, etc) and delivery (reinstall, cleaning, launch). It wasn't cheap, but I made a good deal with the seller that I was able to account for all of that in my budget.

My haul was in May on the west coast... I reviewed the weather information extensively and rolled the dice. I went with an open cockpit and had no issues. I also waited a couple of weeks, so it was a round trip for the transport company and I saved $2k on shipping (+$1k wrapping).

I hadn’t thought about that in this case. My boat has a hard top and fully enclosed helm deck, so road grime wasn’t a factor.

A big factor is how they put the boat on the trailer.
My 2015 410 has to be loaded with the stern facing the cab of the truck, In this case I feel it must be wrapped.
They are charging me $ 3,000.00 all in to prep the boat for high speed trucking, And that is only on one end.

Frank...beautiful boat! Your fiberglass looks incredible. You should do some Youtube videos on your fiberglass maintenance.

Frank, pardon my question, but as a Canadian, would I need a Captains license to operate this boat in USA waters? Something tells me anything over 50’ requires a Captains license, but that could be just Canadian regulations.

No... Unless you are receiving money.

No USCG license required, unless you charge for carrying passengers, but there is a safe boaters program offered by the Florida Wildlife folks that my be requires depending upon your age. It is an excellent program and qualifies you for a safe boating course on your boat insurance. It was never our plan for our kids to operate a 45 ft boat, but we did have a smaller jet boat at the same time so I signed everyone in the family up for the safe boating course and challenged the kids (15 and 17) to beat my score. We all scored above 95 (and neither beat their old man's score) but the course was a correspondence course and extremely well done. If you take it you will learn all the important things you need to know to operate a boat in Florida.

You might check the Florida Wildlife Agency's website and see if it is still offered by them or if they contracted it to another company.

I eventually did get a USCG Captains license, but ran the 450DA in Florida for 25 years and went thru USCG safety checks several times every year and was never asked about a license. Sitting for the USCG test was very educational and worth while but it does take a pretty large time commitment. I let the license lapse when they moved the USCG to the Department of Homeland Security and increased the cost by adding requirements that I didn't need for just running my own boat. I've never chartered or ran a boat for hire so I really don't need a captains license now that I have already gone thru the process of getting the license.
