Hi everyone,

I'm looking at buying a new Sea Ray 185 4.3L V6 2007, this would be my first boat. I was quoted $21,700 with bimini and all the covers and stuff. somebody PLEASE tell me what you think!!! I have been looking around this site and reading a few threds and some tips and I have learned a few things. And my next Q's are... I want it all black, but decals, or, no decals ( if yes, wich) ?

Thanks!

Welcome to CSR!!! You are looking at a great boat. Personally I think you will appreciate the 4.3L. As for price it is hard to say. Each region of the country has different pricing, what I will tell you, I have found people who paid less than I did and those that have paid more than I did, it all depends. What most people suggest is to go to the SR site and price the boat look for the discount to be about 25% off of MSRP. If you get there you did good. Decals are a personal preference, personally I like mine (but of course I do, why would I buy them if I didn't) but some people do not and go for the other look.

You also want to look at what are you going to be using the boat for. Personally we use it for a weekend boat for water sports. The boat does everything we need it do. How many people do you plan to have on the boat on a regular day? Alot of people on this board have 10 foot itis (I had always heard it was 2; but you will see what I mean if you do enough reading). The wisdom that I see being shared over and over is buy the boat that is right for you and buy as much as you can get your wallet around. After a year if you have to upgrade you will wish you had just bought the bigger boat to begin with.

Also find the people on this board with the 185; there are several of us on here and read their post. You can even use the virtual marina to see which owners have the 185. I think there is even a posting about price somewhere out there. You will also want to know does that price include the trailer, does it include warrenty, is it out the door pricing, what is the interest rate, etc.

Good luck with your decision hopefully this helped and if you have any additional questions just ask. This is a great board because you will not find any brand bashing, just boaters who love to help other boaters.

I bought my 185 about a 5 weeks ago. I absolutely love the thing. It has enough power for me and the style is just right.

I like the tribal decals on my boat. Make sure if you do not want the decals, don't buy them. I believe they are a $400-$600 option from what I was told. Worse case scenerio, you could buy the boat with decals and peel them off later if you get sick of em?

As for the price, depends what other options are included. Best bang for the buck has to be a Sea Ray IMO.

Right on! I have the same boat you're looking at getting. I am very happy with boat. I use it in salt water, and it does great. Enjoy

I'll sell you mine so I can get a bigger boat! LOL, Over all I love the 185, there are some minor things I don't like but nothing is perfect. If you can get the seats with thigh bolsters (wish I had those) and snap in/out carpet is nice. I saw on the 2007's they offer storage bins under the rear seat, wish they had that in 06.

The price sounds about right, as others have said it depends on where you live and who you buy from. Marine Max is a little higher than some, but they offer a great network of dealers, sell you the boat with everything you'll need to get in the water and from what I hear they go over the boat from bow to stern with you so you know what you need to.

Good luck and let us know when you get it.

Hey Charlie. There's a thread about this, http://www.byowneryachts.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1910 where kilroy mentions the availability of these bins from Sea Ray. I just ordered the rear bench storage bins for my 06 195..... They are about $90 a piece. I plan to install them myself.

Mayville,

Are you enjoying your new boat yet?

Definately! My family and I go out most weekends into the bay. Spent about 12 hours on the boat last weekend. Will probably be out this weekend also, well, at least this sunday. I will be in the little black 185 sport tooling around. Honk if ya see me.

Just Lurking and thought I would sign up. I'm in the market for a similar boat. I won't hijack your thread, so stay tuned I'll be asking a ton of questions. Just glad to offer up some help.

I just received a quote from a local Marine Max in the South East on the 185. $21,995 w/o tower, $23,995 with the tower. I did not negotiate this price, just had the guy give some realistic prices other than list.

Mayville,Welcome Aboard  . Post some pics of your boat in the virtual marina :smt024 . Sorry must have missed your 1st post while in FL on the PCB trip. Post an intro in the Whos Whos section when you get a chance. Have you got the boat yet?
