Man, this boating sure is in my blood. Sold our 270 SunDeck last fall and really have the desire to get back into boating. Not much has changed as I'm looking ideally for a 270 w/496 (which would be my 3rd such boat) or possibly a 240 (which would be my 3rd such boat) or might even go outside the SR brand and consider a Monterey 263 Explorer Sport.

Just wanted to stop in again and say hi.

If anyone is on the fence about getting a survey done before purchasing a boat DO IT!!! I got absolutely bent over on my last purchase by not getting a survey. I've had 8 previous boats, maybe more, maybe 1 less, and about 50 cars and this was the first time getting burnt. Lesson learned.....That guy totally lied to me about so many things. Anyway, thats a story for another time.

Planning on looking at the Monterey tomorrow AM as its local to me.

Why did ya sell that 270?? Better get a move on, we're already knocking on the door to the 4th of July!

I wasn't very happy with the boat which was my fault from the beginning buying it sight unseen, not verifying things and no survey. I'm OK without a survey but buying it sight unseen just trusting the seller was the biggest mistake I've ever made in all of my purchases.

What I have noticed casually shopping is prices seem to be a solid 10-13% higher than the past 12-18 months and most are asking above NADA value. Crazy thing is the market seems to be hot with most of the good boats moving very quickly.

The used boat market is on FIRE! Every boat I have called about has sold within 3 days of listing. The 270 I just called about sold in 8hrs.

It is going to be tough to find a boat now. When I sea trailed mine (28 ft open bow.) a few weeks ago the seller said, "you taking it? I got people scheduled to sea trial it for the next three days". And that was just from a local Craigslist ad.

Patience. A good boat goes for double the NADA, and you can't give away a boat after the fourth of July. Bargains are everywhere soon.

What do you think about the 250 and 270 SLX? They seem to have a few nicer trim features, but they are pricey.

I like the looks of the SLX but not sure its the right hull for me. We do all of our boating on the Upper Chesapeake Bay and anchor frequently. Cant have a deep V that rocks a lot. The SunDeck really is the ultimate boat for us and maybe even a Chaparral 256 but they seem to have a deeper V than the 270 SunDeck.

Found this SLX and it sure is pretty! And of course its listed for a good amount over NADA.

The SLX is under contract as of today. They are moving fast!

I ended up with a Chaparral 276 SSX. So far, love it! Fit and finish are great. I know we are a SR site but other good vessels exist. I literally never envisioned I would own out of the SR ecosystem, now I own two. Look around...

I'm open to the ides of other brands with my budget being less than 30k. Looked at a 263 Monterey but it was pretty beat. The Chaparrals are really nice but there are none available with the 8.1l engine. Not interested in the 5.7 with a boat full of people. Like the looks of the 256ssi and ssx and even the Sunesta.

I'd love for the hours to be under 300 but not sure thats possible given my budget, etc.

Going to look at a 270 SunDeck w/496 tomorrow AM. I hope it's not sold by the time I get there!!

Check on boatzez.com They have boats I did not see anywhere else...

Looked at two 270's today. Both listed yesterday. I was the first to see both. First one was sold by the time I got to boat #2 which was 30 min away. I put a deposit down on boat #2 and they have 5 people lined up wanting to see it already. So two 270s sold within 18hrs of hitting the market. Impressive!

Excited about my future boat. No details yet, need to hammer out the specifics.

Going to pick up what will be my 5th SeaRay SunDeck and 3rd 270 tomorrow.

Can't wait to get her back to my marina and spend the afternoon cleaning her up!

I might even keep this one long enough to make a few changes and upgrades to things, most notably the stereo. It already has the factory added subwoofer.
