I sold my 1997 250 yesterday. I spent a couple of hours cleaning it up before the test ride. They already knew they wanted it - they brought a cashier's check. They also brought a friend who used to work at our local SR dealer (and his wife).

With 5 adults and 1/2 gas and full water, it jumped on plane and ran like a scalded ape. We were cruising along at 30 mph when I decided to show them the power remaining. I didn't mean to, but I knocked the friend's wife off the back of the seat as it jumped up another 10 knots - instantly.

That boat shines. It's truly beautiful. We owned it 10 years and one week. They got a great boat and a great deal. I'm happy that it went to a family that will truly appreciate it for what it is. They own several old vehicles that are in near mint condition from a '67 Vet to a '70 Charger and 60's truck with only 35,000 original miles, original paint, and original interior.

I think they'll take good care of her.

Mixed emotions - Happiest day, yet sadest one too.

Sounds similar to my last Saturday... so I guess congratulations are in order .. I gave away my daughter to a good man...and it sounds as if you gave away your 'girl' to a good home too. :smt001

Congrads - I know how you feel, sad and relieved at the same time. Our old 260DA is slipped almost directly across from our 320DA, so we get to keep a good eye on her. :smt001 The wife even got a ride on the 260DA yesterday - she helped move her to the fuel dock. The wind picked up a bit in the afternoon (just as we were getting back to the slip :smt013 ) and single handing the 260DA would not have been fun, so she hopped on board and helped with lines while I cleaned up the 320DA.

I know that feeling Hampton.

I parted with my 240SD a few months back and like you had owned two boats for a period of time. I will always miss my 240SD. :smt089 On the other hand I was relieved not to have two boats anymore as well.

We also felt sad letting go of the boat we owned for 9+ years, but, alas, she went to a good home, as did yours, as is obvious with their other "toys".

Thanks everyone.

I'm sure the sadness will give way to relief very soon. The last thing I wanted was to go into fall with 2 boats. I had another annual coming due very soon.

Gas money - made me laugh.

Like giving daughter away - yes, if she is high maintenance.

Good home - definitely.

How did you guess?? Never been anything but females in the house.. even the grandkids... and they learned (are learning) well from the admiral.. :smt100

Eric,

Isn't that the truth? It was on auto-pilot, meaning, I didn't have to do much with it other that an occassional run and wash. I did have to pay insurance, and an annual was coming up - I guess there was a lot!

The best part is that I don't own a trailer. No offense to trailer owners, but we just stored it on the trailer and moved it 100 ft to the ramp several times a month. The new way is way better.
