Illinois judge strikes down Governor Pritzker stay at home order

Dunno 'bout this. I could live with being called many names but being called a pedophile is a little extreme. Some things are just out of bounds and I consider that to be one. But carry on

I know, but whatcha gonna do. He has the freedom to be as insulting as he was raised to be.
Ignore function works well. ;)

Good call. I had forgotten about that. I have to kick myself for not following the advise in my own signature.

Let me help you out.

low-class =
"Got it, you’re a murdering, thief, extortionist, pedophile."

stupid comment = "Under your theory you have the following rights:
You have the right to rob someone,
You have the right to murder someone,
You have the right to blackmail someone,
You have the right to have sex with a child,"

Stupid comment, because pretty much no one on the planet believes that, but somehow you were able to make that leap. Bonus points though for accusing me of personal insult. I admire your chutzpah.

Regards
The murdering, thief, extortionist, pedophile

Small detail, all thieves, murderers, extortionists and pedophiles do believe they have the right to do what they wish. After all they wouldn’t do these things if they didn’t think that way. So given the crime stats quite a few people believe their freedom is above the law. So maybe my comment isn’t so stupid.

You said, “Moreover, it has absolutely everything to dowith freedom being violated, and the premise that "protectingthe people", somehow nulls freedom is absurd on the face of it.”

Based on that quote, one’s freedom is absolute and above “protecting the people”, i.e. laws. And by saying that a rationale for criminal behavior being acceptable is established. Behavior no matter how heinous, it’s all OK if in the name of freedom.

And for the record, my use of the word “you” in the list of criminal behaviors was not meant you personally, but you in the general sense of anyone in the population.

You have the right to rob someone,

Got it, you’re a murdering, thief, extortionist, pedophile.

Did I sum it up right?

Think about that.

I guess if you cannot win the debate, just call your opponent names. This type of post is why our discussions get kicked to the holding tank. You are better than that.

Read the post I was commenting on. It basically said that criminal behavior in the name of freedom is acceptable. Something I pointed out. Was my comment inflammatory? Yes, because mr bobEast clearly was not aware he was legitimizing even the most heinous actions by his post.

The media narrative is focused in on Florida and Texas but guess where the majority of deaths are?
New York.

Guess where the highest death rate per 1m population?
New Jersey.

Texas lowest death rate per 1m.

Media is silent. Figures.

The Bob post is in a normal speak of highly legalistic matters. I have had this discussion with a couple of others and you are making an enormous leap to equate normal breathing with willful violence.

Humans have always spread germs, it is our nature as we are not our own but belong to an entire ecosystem that lives on and in your body. Viruses, bacteria, and even outright bugs live and pass from one human to the other.

It is incredulous to me that people of true intellect can then make the equal comparison to violence and murder...

Because the mental rationale is the same,i.e. “what I want is more important than the safety of others”, or “I don’t care if there is a law against it, I’m doing it anyway”, “I want your car, and don’t care if I have to shoot you to get it.” These are all fruit of the logic that personal freedom is supreme over rules (or laws) put in place to protect others. The significant point in Bob’s post was the phrase:

“...the premise that "protectingthe people", somehow nulls freedom isabsurd on the face of it.” The view is that freedom can not be limited by anything, and specifically rules that are for “protecting the people”.

The reality that you point out is that personal freedom is not limitless, and is indeed subordinate to laws, rules, regulations, etc. all the way down the list to good manners.

It didn't say that. You took that nonsensical leap.

Just too far out on this one. We have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Being forced by government to wear masks makes me unhappy!

Now that we are going down this rabbit hole, where will it stop? Who decides what and when? None of the procedures they are forcing down the people’s throats are law, but rather edicts from the executive branches of state government. None based on science.

So now a state can mandate full hazmat suits to stem colds? If not why not? Are the dead from colds not just as important as C-19 victims?

Just where is the line and who draws it?

Significant historical and legal fact: We do not have a “right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. Those words and concepts are contained in the Declaration of Independence. A document of huge significance to both American and world history. It is not however a document of any legal standing in US law. It was created by British colonists to declare their independence from the British Crown. With the creation of the United States the Declaration of Independence became a historical document created by a now non-existent government.

As for the rest, if you are dissatisfied with your local government’s structure, change your state’s constitution. If you are dissatisfied with how your elected officials are dealing with the problems you elected them to deal with, change them.

This will play up till the election. After Trump get re-elected (by a landslide) the next hoax will begin.

Hopefully the House would have flipped as well.

Again you cam make an incredible leap with what you call "logic" on the other post but cannot fathom that the Constitutions point is to enshrine the rights the Declaration Of Independence espoused...

Incredible leap? You do realize that people who actively practice the idea that their personal actions are above the law generally end up incarcerated?

Please quote the specific section of the US Constitution that codifies a right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.
