I moved from a 19 foot hull Four Winns 190 Horizon to a 22 foot hull (2011 240SD) this year and was surprised how much worse the wandering was at idle speeds. I had an aha moment yesterday which may be known to everyone else, but I trimmed the drive full down from where I run on plane which is not much of a difference and the wandering was GREATLY reduced. I run on plane at a trim setting of 2 which is not trimmed up much, but full down was a significant improvement. On my old boat, the trim setting had no impact on the slight wander until you trimmed it way up near a trailering position. Maybe this is common knowledge but it was new to me thought I would share.

Single engines will wonder especially with drive up any amount IMO or if you have trim tabs make sure there in the up position current will grab them or coming off plane the back pressure can damage them.
