I want to go to the Bahamas!!!!

Thanks!

I was looking at the Bahamas website. Other than the Fling scheduals, it basically says, come on over we got Rum!?.

It's a 1986 Srv210CC Cuddy Cruiser. I bought it for $4000.00. Thought I got a good deal. $5500.00 for a new motor, plus a few grand in new assesories. And now it's sea worthy. Just want to hone my boating skills this summer. Next summer I might join a Bahamas Fling if I'm feeling comfortable with the boat. I thought it was a big boat. As it looks that way on a trailer, but over the past 2 months I've already decided I want a 25'-30'. Amazing how much more boat you get with just a few feet more!?. But for now this will do. I'd say by next year it will be looking show room quality. I'm just a stickler for detail. Can't have a switch or a light not working. Already went through the electrical and got everything working the first two weeks. Then the brand new Merceuiser 5.7 went in.

We are still planning to go in mid-July. Anyone want to join us? I will be bringing my wife, and two sons (16 and 10).

I talked with the Fling organizers and room is still available. Drop me a PM if are interested.

Thanks!

Nick

You'll enjoy it. I'm going on the first one in June.. and possibly the last one in August.

Thanks to everyone for the advice! :smt038

We just returned from our first Bahama's Fling, and we had a great time. We only had about seven boats on this trip, but what was really surprising was the size of some of the boats that made the trip. We actually had a 24' Regal bowrider make the trip across with us! We also had a Sea Ray 240 (cuddie cabin) also make the trip.

The Bahamas Tourist group did a great job of setting this up and taking care of the details. They are also happy assisting everyone with any trip details.

The flings charge $75 to join, and are definately worth it! Here is the link for the Flings. There are three left, and I am sure that they would make room for anyone that wants to join!

This time of year is known for super dfat seas unless we get a wind with a name on it.

Row boats can cross now.

:smt024check date and lead the way you have back-up if you need mayday:lol::thumbsup:

How long did it take you guys to cross the Gulf Stream? Was it really flat?

We went on the first fling and our second year of doing so and we had about 14 boats; from small bow riders and a 22' baja to a few larger 35-45 footers. It took about 2 hours and 20 minutes going across when we went and seas were flat; coming back it was a little choppy as there were probably 3-4' rollers till we got halfway thru the gulfstream.

Pete, where did they have you stay this time; at Bimini Bay? That is one beautiful resort..

We stayed at Bimini Bay Resort...very nice! Floating docks, great restroom/shower facility, the pools on the resort are some of the best I have ever seen. The resort is a little pricey, but worth it.

It also took us about 2 1/2 hours to cross over. Going to Bimini was very smooth, and coming back we had rolling 2-3 footers (got a little wet coming back, but no problems).

We are looking forward to going again next year....

Nick,

How did the boat parking deal work out ?

You've got your "Gulfstream 'Nads" now...how does it feel ?

The first time I did it I thought it was one of the best feelings you can have ...with your pants on.

Nick, how much a foot did they charge, and was there a discount for being part of the "fling"?

Did Richard and Carlton come over with you? They work hard to put these things on and are really nice guys.

Bimini Bay is beautiful!!

Did you get out to the sunken ship Sapona, or Honeymoon harbor for some snorkeling? We had an amazing time doing that!

The marina was about $2.50/ft + the overcharge for electric and water. Richard rode back with us in the lead boat. What a beautiful area. The picture above is the boats anchored at Honeymoon Harbor, where we can to pet and feed the stingrays. I attached a couple more pictures.

I didn't know I had "Gulfstream 'Nads" - my wife was nervious, I was really looking forward to the trip.

I always tell folks "your boat can normally handle a lot more weather that the navigator can."
