I want to go to the Bahamas!!!!

I agree that the seas may reduce the mileage but come on guys.

His calculated mileage is 150 miles (flat seas) and will reduce from there depending on the seas. Barry's 320 isn't going to be much better if the seas are rough...actually might be worse.

I took a 280 over that only holds 100 gallons....1.4MPG in 2-3' seas with 6' rollers....made it without a problem.....WPB to Lucaya and same scenario back.

Thanks to everyone for the offers and information. After some family conversations, we have decided to sign up for the July Bahama's Boating Fling to Bimini. The dates of the trip are July 8th-12th.

If anyone is interested in coming with us, either send me a note or go to the following website to fill out the listed form.

Come and join us on a trip to the Bahamas!!!!:smt038

I'll be at the June Bahamas Tourism's Bimini fling. should be a lot of fun, as it was last year.

Just currious on what you guys think about a SRV210 Cuddy Cruiser with a 50 gal tank. My range is about 100 miles per tank. (on a good Day) Are trips like these just too far for me?

How big are your b@lls? LOL. I would think on a calm day Bimini would not be too far. If you left out of Ft. lauderdale I think it's only 48 miles. Your very serious consideration would be the weather. I would also try to buddy up with someone to make the cross. There are several posts about this very question in some of the other posts.

My b@lls are HUGE!
But I'm smart enough to not try it alone. I would tag along in a group, or with at least one other larger boat. Not to mention some extra gas, water, and my survival pack. My top speed is 40+, and I cruise at about 30. I know slower is better. But my concern is, is how lite my boat is for the choppy water.

I really want to do this at least once. Hopefully in a couple of years, I can talk my wife into a bigger boat.

To ask someone how big of balls they have when it comes to crossing a body of water? Wow! I believe that is the dumbest post that I have seen on the site. Use common sense and do some research! Unbelievable. The sad thing is that there is some great advice given here, then you read this post.....

LMAO
I understand what you mean Scott. And I'm sure it was said in jest. I also know the difference between b@lls and brains. I would never try and cross a body of water that I've never done before without a bigger boat tagging along. My question here is whether my boat could handle it? Or would I be another victim of the Triangle?

Also are there boat size limitations on these boat club caravans. I looked at the link and nothing was listed about min. Boat size.

if you go to the bahamas.com site and look up boating flings, you might find the answer to what minimum size they will allow; or you can call 954-236-9292. Ask for Karen Wring and she can tell you. The flings are a great way to go and be safe with other boats as well as a great way to meet and make new friends.

I'm planning on going to the first fling to Bimini in June...

It was said as a joke. You obviously didn't read the rest of the post. I think I gave him some good info. HE realized the first part was a LOL.
The fact that he was concerned enough to ask if the size of his boat was big enough to make the crossing showed he was already thinking about what it would take to do it. Lighten up.

Your fine Scott. I can understand your concern when a comment like that is made to a guy with only 3 posts. You don't really know if he has common sense to understand it was a joke or a challenge. LOL
