I voted with my wallet........

I wonder what Pat Tillman would have said to these players?

If these guys are so fed up with law enforcement, they should actually do something about it.

Are any of them brave enough to turn in their jerseys and go join a police department in a city of their choice, so that they can make a difference? I doubt it.

New York City offers an NYPD entrance exam literally hundreds of days every year.
If these guys are so upset about the issue, stop complaining and actually DO something about it!

Let's talk about our nation being divided.

1800 - early years our country, significant division and debate about state versus federal role in government.

1850's this country was divided over slavery and economic basis.

In 1940 - the nation was divided about joining the war in Europe or appeasing Hitler.

in the 1964 we were divided as a country over civil rights.

In 1968 the division of our country over Vietnam erupted at the Democratic convention - and across the nation.

You get the idea - can pull division examples all day.

My point is - our country has been through times with deep division throughout the years of our democracy. Splits between friends and family. Division of beliefs is constant.

I have gone through the family album, I have ancestors which fought for both the US Army and the confederacy during the civil war.

I watched the Oprah segment on 60 minutes - focused on the intensity of division and debate.

We have always had division. Contrarian perspectives. One might form the opinion that the division in thought has made us stronger as a country. We may come from divided perspective, but we talk, we learn, and we evolve together.

Difference today - the media (TV or Internet) earn their revenue from promoting the news of division. I was up early this morning, headed to get coffee before going to the airport. Breaking news - division in our country over the NFL thing.

The media doesn't want resolution of division - they want continuation.

Us as a country coming together and agreeing on points is not "breaking news" that media can hype.

Give me a break - maybe there is not breaking news every day - but heaven forbid media does not have something to talk about...

Last night sat down to dinner, turned on the network news (NBC).

#1 story - President Trump and the NFL - first 4-5 minutes.

# 2 story - Church shooting in TN.

Wait - no one lost their life with the NFL topic - yet - the Church shooting became the second topic? Struggle to understand that.

Ok, rambling late at night...

But let's find our voice about those things that really impact our country...

ok, will be quiet now,

Mark

I agree as well, I am Port Captain of my yacht club and we host Monday Night Football with a BBQ and watch the game and support the bar. Tonight I stopped by to make sure the grill had fuel and was really hoping to see members staying home in symbolic protest. I was dismayed to see business as usual. I left in disgust. I won't watch a minute of football this season unless somehow there is a major about face. I hope the NFL goes bankrupt frankly. But even if they did start to have serious liquidity problems the crooks in congress will probably just bail them out with the excus that the NFL is too big to fail! What a national disgrace!!

I agree with you 100% those spoiled over paid brats should be punished. They should leave their politics out of the game. As a Vietnam vet also I think what they are doing is a total disrespect for our flag and for those who have died defending it. Sometimes I think they should bring back the draft and put those brats in a grunt unit on front lines, their thoughts might change a bit.

I'm happy to see this thread going the way I figured it would. That's why I like all you guys....and girls. When I lived in the Sacramento area Sundays were all about football. I pay $349/year for NFL Sunday Ticket. (5 years ago it was $249) My wife, from New Orleans, is a Saints fan; me from Seattle, a Seahawks fan. Sunday Ticket was the only way we got to see our teams regularly. So on Sundays for 7 hours we watched Football. This past weekend we started the Saints game a bit late and missed seeing a number of Saints players take knee during the anthem and watched the entire game. Then the Hawks game came on and when none of the players came out for the anthem....well that was the final straw for my wife. She refused to watch and I did....but no more. Not until someone shows some huevos and shuts this nonsense down.

I'm the father of an 18-year veteran of a major sheriff's department in California. He is currently the sniper and armorer for his department. He has been deeply involved in manhunts, arrests and takedowns of individuals that have ambushed and taken the lives of fellow officers. Officers that left home that morning not with the plan to go out and kill a black person that day but simply the thought that he go home to his family that night. The BLM group as well as the athletes protesting would have you believe that all cops go to work everyday with the sole intention of killing a black person. That is so far from the truth. The real truth is, cops don't want to ever take a life....but if it needs to be done they will do it but usually if that is the ONLY option for resolution. People need to understand the command to "FREEZE!" does not mean that is the time walk towards the officer and "KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM" does not mean its OK to reach for a stick of gum or your wallet. Somewhere along the line some folks decided they don't have to obey the police. You do have that right but if you choose that path, there will be consequences. My son and I have discussed this next point in detail. The cops and police policy makers have begun to second guess their training, experience and most importantly, their judgement and its going to get some cops killed needlessly if it continues. And if it does, it will not make the police say, "....oh, you were right. We'll just not carry guns anymore so you won't get shot when running from the house you just burglarized. What do I care, the homeowner has insurance." "But what's that....you want us to carry it when we come to your house because your mother was just assaulted and beaten." What it will do is promote more hatred and racial divide.

We could all go on and on about this and still resolve nothing. I wish there was more we could do. If the people that go to the games stopped going the owners would say so what....most seats are season tickets and sold for the season. We need to find a way to hurt the owners and players financially. And if we can, these prima donnas that are so dedicated to their cause would suddenly realize that the cause ain't that big a deal when it takes away the bank.

I'll stop watching but we need to do more. I'm open to suggestions.

We always fly our Ravens burgee from one of the bimini cross bars inside our fly bridge. We are going to stop at West Marine and pick up another American Flag burgee on the way to the boat and take the Ravens burgee down and replace it with the American Flag burgee.

Combat Veteran, 20+ years, U. S. Navy. The last few years of Prima Donnas prancing around in the end zone as well as their conduct off the field was starting to make my stomach turn. Then the well paid and privileged Kaepernick began to take a knee, I really began to get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I caught a few moments of some football this weekend (After coming back from a three day boat trip!!!), saw some of these 'protests' and switched it off. I don't care who may have a great season. I think I can EASILY pull away from football.

I'm done until this crap ends. Even if I had a decent team to root for, this would not be a tough decision. But as a Browns fan with a team who's team is considerably better at kneeling than they will ever be at playing football the decision is all that more simple.

Record the games, jot down the names of the big sponsors, send them and email letting them know that your money goes to their competitors until this ends.

And thank you to our military, police, firemen, and first responders!

It all seems a bit silly. Has this type of protest got to the high schools and colleges? The news used to be facts only now it is a show. When I was younger 60 years ago news was 30 minutes. You got the facts. The weather forecast was one 3 minute presentation. Sports were the scores. Now it is an entertainment show with opinions that are slanted in either direction depending on the network.

Perhaps the solution is to write the networks we like stating “News Only Please and No Opinion”.

I've cut off my cable. Network and cable news is entertainment now and not worth watching. If I want real news and facts I have internet sites I can go to.

And the other benefit of cutting off cable? None of my money goes to the sport networks, the cable networks, etc.

This NY Giants fan and US Navy veteran who spent a career in law enforcement turned off the game as soon as I saw two players take a knee. I don't plan on watching another NFL game or contributing in any way through purchases of any kind until those privileged millennial millionaires realize how insulting all this kneeling and locking arms BS is.
The whole premise of that moron Kapernacks original protest is BS. I never once in 25 years of policing minority neighborhoods asked, or ever heard of another cop ask, about the race of a 911 caller before racing to answer a call for help.

Not a football fan but of course know about this latest fad. I think its a GIANT bunch of BS!
I think this "burn notice" amongst the fans is going to spread fast and I hope it does. They are slapping the fan and our country in the face. Protest all you want but do it on your own time. NOT when people that pay your salary are watching-people that may not agree with you. Don't bite the hand that feeds you!

The ignorance and White Privilege here is astounding.
Unless you are a person of color and have had your culture suffer under 400 years of government sponsored oppression, STFU.
Every one of these players is practicing THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS. So you don't agree with them and you want them FIRED?
Again, step on their First Amendment rights, just like the dictator in the White House who said they should be fired for being an American with Rights. I'm done here.

There are other ways to protest. Don't disrespect the flag! I have had many family members serve in the military and I served in law enforcement, as well as my step-son. I have no issues with protests over equality but there is a certain line you don't cross. These guys play football 3 hours a week. Use the other 165 hours to hold your protests. I don't even care if they score a TD and pull out a banner with their issues painted across it. But don't disrespect the flag or anthem.
