I Voted Democrat Because :

OK, You win. ... wait ... no ... you lost hahahahahahahahah

do we have to get so serious?

~peace and love~

Both parties are complete failures.

Both parties failed. But one is worse than the other and neither has done much good in the last two decades or so. For example, the Community Reinvestment Act and other stupid but supposedly "well-intentioned" measures passed during the Clinton administration, and later abetted by Bush fueled the housing bubble that lead to the mortgage crisis. I used to listen to Bob Grant, and later on in his following I listened to Rush who came on after Bob on my drives back and forth to Long Island on 880 am radio. I have bought and read both early Rush books (the way things ought to be, and I told you so) and listened to what he had to say, and much of it made sense and I believed in.

On that, after listening and hearing him for geez, 2 decades, I now consider Rush a blowhard ultra conservative, "toe the line" moron who has never had a bad thing to say about ANY Republican regardless of the scandal or ineptitude at ANY time.

He only speaks the "truth" according to his vision, and does not accept or tolerate any good by any other politician (especially dems) outside of his own little world of republican values.

He is a sheepherder. He is very good at herding the sheep into a narrow minded view of the world.

I got out and realized the world is not black and white, no one party has all of the answers, and the division of parties is now hurting the country as they hack and fight to devalue each other to get votes.

In the end, we have lost our way. Our employees no longer work for us, but take advantage of us.

True. There is PLENTY of blame to go around. It is NOT the fault of one party. The root cause of the current economic crisis is GREED, and greed is an entrance requirement for both parties.

The last three years of his administration were actually controlled by a locked Democratically controlled House and Senate...including some incredibly important decisions which assisted in creating the house of cards we are now paying for.

Last three years? Last I looked, the Dems had nominal control for only the last two years. But this is a minor quibble.

Bush had his hand in the Repbulicans losing the 2006 election cycle. For example, I am pretty convinced that if he fired Rumsfeld (SIC) in August, as opposed to waiting until AFTER the election, the Republicans may have held the house. Hubris was a shining virtue in that White House.

And in the 2008 cycle. . . most Republicans (who voted Republican) that I talked to did not seem to understand what had happened in 2006. . . and why the Republicans were losing ground.

Rush is not a political leader. He is an ENTERTAINER. But sometimes, entertainers can illuminate problems in a society. In the case of Rush, he is an example of the "right wing echo chamber", that holds all Republicans as golden and all Democrats as Evil Incarnate. Rush does this because it SELLS ADVERTISING TIME.

It is indicative of another problem: Bluster replacing true political discourse. Similar to the Four Suns post where instead of arguing facts, he essentially calls someone a faggot. I mean really. I outgrew that style of argument in Junior High.

And not that this type of bluster is not constained to Republicans. Any one ever read the web site "Daily Kos"? Kind of like a liberal version of "The corner", where a Democrat (except Liberman) can do no wrong.

Another example of an Entertainer exposing an underlying problem is John Stewart's daily show. This is an ENTERTAINER. . . .and yet he is far more inciteful (and indeed often more journalistic) than most major news organisations.

the last four post have said it all (ok, the link one supplied is counted as part of the post, but hey.) namecalling and infighting will help nothing. WE...dems, reps, inds, have to work toghter to fix this. god knows our government can't and won't. Start calling your employees on the carpet.

and yet he is far more inciteful (and indeed often more journalistic) than most major news organisations.

Stewart's an ass, and the local girl scout weekly newsletter is more journalistic that most major news organizations.

This is the REAL root of the problem. Most folks get their "news" from ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, or one of the major metropolitan news newspapers, which are all clearly in the tank with the libs. They all spew hatred towards anyone who leans even a little to the right of center. Thier viewers / readers never get a fair chance to understand or consider any view that is not left leaning.

I had a conversation with an 18 year old the other day about the current state of our country. His point of view was that everything was going to be fine now that the dems controlled everything. I started asking him some questions like how hard was he willing to work, and how much of what he earned was he willing to give away to pay for all of the wasteful spending that is going on. His response was "not much". So, I asked him how he planned on stopping the government from taking what they will need to pay for the money that we are spending now. He had no answer other than it will not be "my problem". Well, guess what? It will be his problem. His entire life will be spent working to take care of, and pay for, people he has never met. They will get their share of his future earnings before he or his future family will.

This country was founded on the principle that we would be a place where you could get up, go to work, and provide a good life for your family. Every nickle that the government takes from you lowers your standard of living, and makes it that much harder to provide a good life for your family.

The libs have stolen the future from the next generation. They did it by demonizing the right, and brainwashing the youth of this country through indoctrination in schools and the media. We will be leaving them one hell of a mess to clean up.

The only saving grace in all of this is that younger generations tend to revolt against the older generations. At some point, being liberal will be what their parents and government tell them is "right", and they will do just the opposite in the name of rebellion. That is when we will get our country back.

As for now, all I can do is spread the word. I apologize to the younger crowd for the mess that our generation has left them, and urge them to think for themselves. I try to leave them wondering what things would be like without an oppressive, out of control government. They have been told that conservatives want to take away their rights, and that the left doesn't, but when you go point by point and discuss the rights that they have lost at the hands of the libs, you can tell that they understand but are confused because they were taught otherwise. The only "rights" that conservatives want to take away is the "right" to kill babies, and to do harm to others. We want to take away the excuse that "it was the environment in which they were raised" when dealing with criminal activities in the court system. I also try to give them an honest representation of what conservatism is all about by discussing a few ideas on taxation, landholders' rights, the Constitution, etc.. I find it funny that on a point by point basis, they tend to agree with a lot of conservative principles, and they don't even know it. Hopefully, I can plant a few seeds of rebellion along the way.

This was sent to me..you will note there is a lot of truth in this little example;

Joe Legal vs. One Is Illegal

Here is an example of why hiring illegal aliens is not economically productive for the State of California...

You have 2 families..."Joe Legal" and "One Is Illegal". Both families have 2 parents, 2 children and live in California.

"Joe Legal" works in construction, has a Social Security Number, and makes $25.00 per hour with payroll taxes deducted....

"One Is Illegal" also works in construction, has "NO" Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 an hour cash "under the table".

Joe Legal...$25.00 per hour x 40 hours $1000.00 per week, $52,000 per year
Now take 30% away for state federal tax
Joe Legal now has $31,231.00

One Is Illegal...$15.00 per hour x 40 hours $600.00 per week, $31,200.00 per year
One Is Illegal pays no taxes...
One Is Illegal now has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays Medical and Dental Insurance with limited coverage
$1000.00 per month
$12,000.00 per year
Joe Legal now has $19,231.00

One Is Illegal has full Medical and Dental coverage through the state and local clinics
at a cost of $0.00 per year
One Is Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal makes too much money is not eligible for Food Stamps or welfare
Joe Legal pays for food
$1,000.00 per month
$12,000.00 per year
Joe Legal now has $ 7,231.00

One Is Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for Food Stamps and Welfare
One Is Illegal still has $31,200.00

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,000.00 per month
$12,000.00 per year
Joe Legal is now in the hole... minus (-) $4,769.00

One Is Illegal receives a $500 per month Federal rent subsidy
One Is Illegal pays rent
$500.00 per month
$6,000.00 per year
One Is Illegal still has $25,200.00

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

One Is Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal's and One Is Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while One Is Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch.

One Is Illegal's children have an after school ESL program.
Joe Legal's children go home.

Joe Legal and One Is Illegal both enjoy the same Police and Fire Services, but Joe paid for them and One Is did not pay.

You forgot that Illegal one sends money back to his/her country so when they are done using our resources, they can go home to their place of origin, and retire at an early age with plenty of money that they took outside of the country.

Right down the last half decade the youth has been a good part of the problem, except for maybe the 80s. Why? Kids don't think. My 18 and 21 year old nephew and niece claimed to have done a lot of research before voting for Hussein. Found that that research was reading the campaign web sites. Hussein promised more free stuff. What's wrong with four years of Christmas presents?

The country made a major mistake dropping the voting age all the way down to 18. Probably should be no lower than 25 or 30. Of course, I know a few 40 and 50 year-olds that don't think either. Oh well. How about going back to property owners? We're the ones who have to deal with the consequences.

I think you should get the number of votes that is equivelent to the cumulative dollars you've paid into the system... That'll keep most 18 year olds from voting... and a lot of 30 year olds... and 40 year olds... etc...

Right now people are voting based on what they are being promised for free... sorta like everyone is robbing the treasury... GOOOOOOD IDEA!!!

Party Politics & No term limits is the problem -

what will it take to change things, or is it too late ?

I've been advocating that for about a decade!

George Washington stated in his address when leaving the presidency that party politics would tear the country apart. So true. The two party system is so exclusive here that you must subscribe to one ideology or the other. There are plenty of "conservatives" in the Democratic Party to go along with the Socialists, and plenty of "moderates' in the Republican party to go along with Radicals. Just no space in the middle of the battle line.

If old George had known that sooner or later an 18 year old could vote, a non property or business owner could vote (you really should have some skin in the game), or that a reverse carpet-bagger from AR could represent the people of NY, I think he would have fought for King and Country.

Don't get me started about women voters and Prohibition, but they did eventually get that straightend out.

They need to elimate the ability to vote all democrat or all republican by the pull of one switch or pressing one button. People need to think about who they are voting for.
