Back in September I traded my 04 42 DA on a new 07 44 DA at MM in Cawtaba Is Ohio. The boat was sitting in Lindenhurst N.Y. in the factory shrink and by the time it got to Ohio it was early Oct. so I never had them prep the boat so the warrantee would not start till spring when I physically take delivery. I live 2 hrs away from where the boat sits and my wife got me an I Pod for christmas that according to the Clairion manual is compatable.I read the manual and although it mentions the I Pod connection, it doesn't show me where it is. Can someone tell me wher and how this works?

Welcome to the board. I have no answer to your I-Pod question, but I am curious why you traded for (other than upgrades) basically the same boat. Kind of like 2 foot-itis without the 2 feet.

bblack - New boat - Hey, I understand.

It may be on the back of the Clarion unit. I'm starting to research this myself. I think you need to plug it in and run the line out to a handy spot. Waiting for the details myself.

Guys it should be in the face of the new clarion. U should have posted earlier. I could have gotten u pics of the boat in Lindenhurst. Enjoy the boat and the hard top...

In responce to "why trade" I really like the 40's series of Sea Rays. I've had 10 Sea Rays starting with a 1977 SRV 20,a23,a268,a34DA,a370DA. I then got a 40 express which was honestly the best boat I've ever owned up to the 04 420. After that I got a 97 400 Dancer,a 410 Dancer and a 420 hardtop. I wasn't going to trade this year but they shot me a number I shot them a number and the race was on. The new 44 has some features that I felt would "complete" the boat, specifically, bigger diesels, thruster, cockpit A/C,and i love the black hull (had the dk blue with no issues.) My wife and both love boating. We hang out in the west end of Lake Erie and never had any kids. We"ll probably die broke but we enjoyed the boating. One other thing, the 04 420 did not have hydrolic steering assist, which if you've ever driven one in a cross wake you'd understand, and I really like that improvement.

bblack.....glad to hear your reasoning. I say glad, because the admiral and I are in sort of the same "size" dilema. So long as I live, and boat, in the same area I am in now, going too much larger really doesn't make any sense. And unless the admiral all of a sudden decides that she's OK with a bridge boat, I'm kind of stuck in the 40's express range....not that that's a bad place to be stuck.

I don't see myself keeping my current boat for ever....so my next boat won't be much bigger (or smaller) than the 410DA we have now....

Sorry to hijack.....back to ipods..

On the 07 - 320 there is a little circle jack that is in the cabinetry near the stereo that you plug into the ipod. You have to buy a few $$ in a cable. That being said my ipod hookup was not installed correctly and within 15 minutes I had fixed the wiring issue myself.

Can you imagine what the price is going to be on the "new 44" based on the 48 design? Living in Ohio we only have so much summer to enjoy and I don"t think I'm willing to commit to what that number is going to be. As to the location of the I Pod jack, that makes sense. It would make even more sense to have a second jack at the helm station with the radio remote. The 410 with the 3116 Cat's would have to be sweet. I hade the 8.1's and all was good untill docking on a windy, windy day,but you see a lot of them (gas 40's ) on the great lakes. Honestly when your only using the 4 - 4.5 months and only putting 50 hrs. a year(pretty common) The gas engines make sense. The diesel are better but they are 80,000 retail ,60,000 real money more.

BB,
there saying that NEW 44 is still a few years away.. Hope they get it right . After seeing how they screwed the pooch on the 47 sedan bridge im afraid ...

Rob, I htought you loved your 44, what is the problem here.....? Is there anything you don't like about your boat, and your in NY, so you get to use yours about as long as we michiganders use ours.... that's alot of money for a short season, but your boat is well worth it...

I'm curious how they screwed the pooch on in the 47DB? Must be the disco/pimped out blue glowing master stateroom? I liked the rest of the boat but I'm also in no way familiar with the bigger boats to give much otherwise. SB

I found mine in a cabinet adjacent to the Clarion stereo. The interior of the cabinet was painted black and the Aux jack is also black. It was on the side of the cabinet out of direct sight. I also found a handy black AC jack in there with a black cover plate. I was only able to find it by feeling around. Check all your cabinets close to the stereo with a flashlight. It's in there.

Rob,
Love my boat. We stretch the season pretty good. I think we did 150 hrs this season . We launch first week march and go til we cant go no more... ( december usually )

minor issues only thing id like to see them change is how they calcualte there a/c requirements. They're way short on the capacity end. But other then that Searay customer serivce has been awesome...

Highly recc the boat. She;ll take good care of u ...

I just went through this on my 270 with the Clarion CMD4A and you have to decide if you want to just plug in the Ipod to listen and use the Ipod to control the music or if you want your head unit to control the Ipod. I installed the Clarion EA1276 that lets me control the Ipod from the head unit and it works great.

Having been on the new 47DB quite a few times in FL, I will agree, the bridge has a few issues. If you are sitting at the helm with the seat all the way up and me being 6'4' tall, seeing below the bow rail is not possible. I will have to admit though, the passthru bar in the galley is very cool. It a great idea for day boating when you have a few people on board for serving. I also thought the disco aft was cool. Just my thoughts.....
