Hello,

This summer my mechanic lost ????@@@@ my propellers so he gave me for 2 weeks a 26 pitch. (mercuiser 6.2mpi bravo 3)

My engine can barely go up to 4000 rpm at WOT and the speed is 28 knots. (According to the GPS) The boat was fully loaded with water, fuel and 4 persons.
All I remember is that my normal pitch was 22 but I don’t remember the code, if it was A60 or something else.

When I bought the boat a surveyor checked it, so I read the surveyor report and he wrote 22p propellers and 35 knots at 5000 rpm (according to the GPS)
The mechanic says he will buy me new propellers, he suggested 24 pitch, he believes this is better.

I cannot understand anything from the mercruiser prop selection website.
Please, what do you thing is better for better cruise speed and economy?
Any suggestions?

Were they the original props that came with the boat when new? I've never checked for this so I can't say for sure... but try stopping by your dealer (or any Merc dealer) with your original engine serial number or at least the drive and/or transom serial number. They might be able to look it up.

If you want, I can tell you what would of come with that boat in 2000 with the 310HP 7.4L. But, my list won't tell me whether it's cupped or not.

Try calling Merc directly and ask them.

This is a thread on here dealing only with "Late 90's" 270's. Try talking with some of these guys: http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1786

Thank you Lazy Daze.
i will talk with to the 270 guys and i ll make a call to the merc.

Don't forget to compare gear ratio's, as well. Also, be sure to try and compare apples to apples - their 7.4L 310HP would equate to your engine. For your purpose, the extra 10HP you have won't matter.

Thank you Lazy Daze.

I have the engine serial, the transom serial, and the outdrive serial at the surveyor report but how i can find the gear ratio??

The engine serial number from your old engine or new? Is the drive new, as well?

Drive ratio is stamped on the outdrive - on that sticker near the top of the drive - just under the top cap. It's on one side or the other. It can also be found by a Merc dealer with the serial numbers.

Lazy Daze this are the serials from the report
