I need a dinghy

I think it was TheAcademy5 - He just didn't sign in that day.

Thanks TheAcademy5, but I took it on good advice and ordered a new dinghy.

All - I ordered an '07 Achilles LSI-96 with a firm, inflatable floor.

I also ordered a '07 Yahama 8HP 2-stroke outboard, 15".

Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!! I think I got a couple of really good deals.

Got my motor - now I just need something to hang it on! - How exciting!

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so the dinghy takes 11 days to get here. That's ok. I went to the UPS place and signed up for them to hold it for me Friday AM. I had Friday off, and my wife took 1/2 day off so we could get out early and play. I went by UPS when they opened Fri AM, and they didn't hold the dinghy. The lady had typed the wrong tracking number in the day prior, and came up with a blank.

I left the info with them the day prior. I left my name. I left my address. No re-attempt, no follow up, no phone call, no service. So, I tell them to let me go meet the truck - no. Tell the driver to kick the box out the back and I'll go get it - no. Have him swing by my neighborhood early, we're trying to go on a boat trip - no.

So, after 3.5 hours we gave up and went out without a dinghy (just like every other day for the last 10 years - but this time we were ready!). As we get under way, the supervisor calls us from UPS and asks if we can meet the driver at xxxxxx in 30 minutes. No, we've left for our trip. Can they forward the box to an address, she asks. Not unless you make water deliveries!!!!!!!!!

Man, was I mad (in my own way). I really wanted that dinghy. As it turns out, it was windy on the Gulf side of our barrier island, so I hiked across and kite-surfed for almost 3 hours - no time for a dinghy this time anyway.

I'm past the first two landmarks in breaking in my Dinghy motor - 10 minutes of fast idle, and 50 minutes of 1/2 throttle or less. Even with that, I got right up on plane and cruiesed around the sound yesterday.

I went to register my Dink, and I didn't have a title, so they wouldn't register it. A title? It's a 73 pound blow up toy for Jiminy's sake! Now, I have to try to get a title for our little toy boat.

This is my thread and you can't respond!

After you break the dinghy in, can I have it?

John,

Sorry to hear about your trouble, kite surfing, now that is something you should have shared when we were in PCB, I would have loved to try that.

You may want to start a new topic about the title thing, I would think a bill of sale would work but I really do not know. I think that people scanning the postings may have missed it as I am sure someone has run into this before.

I've only gotten this far in my catch up, but all you need to apply for a title and register the inflatable is the "MSO" or manufacturer's statement of origin which should have been supplied with your invoice or bill of sale.

Florida will not title the boat without either it or a previous owners properly executed title.

Exactly - an MSO. I don't have that or a bill of sale. They promise that it's in the mail. What I do have is a dinghy and a credit card debit. More to come. The dinghy's a lot of fun, though.
