I am a firm believer in preventive maintenance. Unlike an infamous former member of this forum I do not subscribe to the “wait till it breaks” methods. Last season I had the water pump impellers changed, spark plugs, oil and filters, and transmission fluid and filters. Before the start of this season the fuel filters where changed and the drive shafts were aligned.
Well after all of that I had to leave my boat in Havre De Grace last weekend because of engine trouble on my way home. Now it sounds like the sending unit for the water pressure on the port engine was bad. MM service is working on the boat up there, and it is throwing a low water pressure code. Engine temperature is normal so it does not appear to be a water pump. Everything ran great on the way up, but the problem showed up right away on the way home. With all the electronic system checks we have on engines today I often wonder are they a help or a hindrance.
The picture in my signature will remain until I get my boat home!
