It is for the best, she would have been 15 years old this March 20th. Here is link to her picture

I have been giving her insulin shots twice a day for almost three years, she is now pretty well totally blind, also deaf, and is having a hard time walking. I have to pick her up to take her outside.

I looked all over Kentucky when I was still living there for her, I finally found in Berea, Kentucky, but had to wait until she was old enough to be weaned. She has been my buddy, and I have to admit this hurts me, really hurts, but it will be for the best and I believe she is also ready. I have given her lots of attention the past two days and a bit of vanilla ice cream, her favorite, since the diabetes she has not had any, but...

At least I am back to work tomorrow, so I will have to adjust when I come home and she is not there, but I wil adjust. There will not be any replacements as I will soon be 62 and if something happens to me I do not want another pet maybe being put into the pound.

At least it is a New Year and I was able to enjoy her as long as I have.

So to everyone else I say Happy New Year, and learn to live for each day!

Howard

That's so sad and I'm sprry to hear it. I had my first dog pass away on Christmas night 9 years ago. It really hurt and nothing will replace him but time heals and I do have many great memories.

Sorry to hear this Howard, Losing our pets is never easy they are like another child to us.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your pet. I know how it feels to lose a pet. They are a part of our life and when they are gone its like a part of our life that is gone. I wish you well.

Howard, So sorry to hear that. Like Scott said, you did everything you could. I hope your heart heals quickly. Sincerely, Brian

It was tough to let my dog go 1 1/2 years ago. We still think of her but I would want the same fate if I were dealing with what she was dealing with. They make it illegal to put people down though? Our pets are treated better than we are...

Howard,

So sorry to hear. I had a West Highland Terrier that would be 16 if still alive today. They're great companions.

Hang in there.

Don

So sorry to hear this, I do know how you feel. Through out my 67 years I have had to put several down and several just laid down and did not wake up. We we not going to get another cat when we lost Turkey"the name fit her", but we now have 2 cats, we were not going to get another dog after losing our last but we now have an Akita and over the new year holiday a little black and white dog turned up in our yard, I think the Akita has adopted her. So may have 2 dogs if we cannot find the owner. Your buddy will not be suffering anymore is about the only good thing to be said at a time like this.

Howard,

It is one of the toughest decisions a human has to make, and yet you know when it is time. The selfish side of one wants to delay the decision because it is very difficult, but yet we all come around to the right decision. We have had to put down several of our dogs due to illiness (cancer/neurological degenerative disease) and age and each was as difficult as the other.

You did the right thing and as difficult as it was, in your heart, you know your buddy is in a better place and running around without pain and with full function.

The Lord above will comfort you.

Dave

Oh man that breaks my heart. I have an 11 year old Cairn Terrier who is the best dog on earth and my best buddy too boot. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear.....they are a part of our family....and losing them hurts.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. All the best to you.

It has been almost three years since I had to put down my 130lb Akita. Karl was a part of our family and it truly was the worst day of my 33 yrs. I feel for what you are and will be going through. It gets better with time. Be grateful you had so much time with her, Im sure she has lived a full life. Karl was barely 5yrs old and got sick one day before I went to work. A week to the day later we had found out he had cancer everywhere inside of him and had him put down. It was scary how he went from being fine to almost lifeless within a weeks time.

My fam will be thinking of you.

Howard,
I'm sorry to hear that. I had to do the same with my Shepard 10 years ago and I still get choked up when I talk about her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can almost feel your pain. We had a little ****z zu that was just like family.
She had a stroke out of no where and died. It still hurts 2 years later. We will say a prayer for you tonight during prayer time and ask the comforter to be with you and your family. Sorry again for your loss, JC
