I HATE this Effing State!

The marina where I store Just Ducky has paved aprons near the travel lifts. Pavement is graded to drain into a basin with a settling tank. Water then goes to the sewer system. The contents after settling are sent to a waste disposal site. Don't know more about it than that, but I think most marinas do the same thing.

I know for certain that the sanding dust when I did my bottom paint on Sunday didn't end up in the water. The wind carried it back into the yard and all over some bastard's car that was parked a foot from my boat's port side. OK, eventually the rain will probably wash it into the water. But it's just copper. I caught as much as the vacuum attachment on the sander would catch.

All of this same type of or very similar stuff runs off all over the planet where the human race has put in roads, even on dirt roads anywhere one drives vehicles on them.

Small pieces of rubber from tires, all kinds of oils, grease, and fuel deposits, anti-freeze, paints, etc. Just ask your self when it rains where does all of this go?

Here's Frank suited up and ready for sanding his bottom!

That is a damn riot! You should be writing one-liners for Jimmy Kimmel!

Yeah. . .well. . .. that is what I look like when I come out from under. I have done it the other way ==>but never again. Every year. . my PPE gets better and better.

The first year I did serious bottom work. . it was 3 showers per day for four days before I got clean. This year. . .I was ok after one shower. Next year. . .I will just be washing off sweat.

..And the year after writing a check

This picture made this thought come to mind, "Just Ducky" :smt043:smt043

That looks more like a bunny suit. I didn't do the tyvek overalls, but they're probably not a bad idea. I do wear a respirator, which is just good sense. Why breath in all that dust?

I think the "recomendation" in that verbage to use Bidodegradeable soaps is a good step towards awareness. When it gets down to laws and stiff fines is where it's overboard. In the Puget sound since the turn of the century factories and other industry dumped tons and tons of whatever they were doing (including PCBs) into the Duwamish river which leads into the Sound. Now necropsies on Orca are finding these PCBs in their fat stored from the Salmon they were eating, which of course came from the rivers.

I think keeping phosphates, common in detergents and other soaps out of the waters as much as possible is a good thing.

Granted, to me it's nice if there's some awareness vs. a Law. Like others have said here, some politicians just aim for something "Green" like this to tout it on there "environmental" folder in their portfolio for their next campaign.

..And the year after writing a check

The first year I had my SeaRay, I wrote a check. For $1000+, I got a paint job that did not include powerwash or sanding. . . .and was not quite an embarrassment. Oh. . and getting the boat to their yard is an additional $250 if I hire someone, or $300+ if they haul it out of the water at their dock.

No thank you. I will wear the PPE.

It's a good thing NJ isnt already polluted. THIS will save it!

The Coast Guard wants to put up two wind turbines at the Cape may Training station. The NJDEP is standing in the way and will not issue permits, becasue of birds. These people are out of their minds. Just like the Feds use the commerce clause of the Constitution to control everything NJ is using its DEP to do the same thing. I hope that the rest of country is ready to bail us out like they are doing for CA.

We need to take our country back!!!

DEP, EPA, Supreme court. More legislation from UN-ELECTED A-holes. This is NOT what the founding fathers envisioned. We are supposed to be a REPUBLIC. I don't know what you'd call this form of government.
