Bifen works really well too... Only issue it's not 'safe' around the water.

Bifin, Home Defense, Bug b Gone, and other spider insecticides all use Bifinthrin as the active ingredient. It has been used for years to spray orchards, raspberries, and various vegetables because of its effectiveness, duration and relative safety around pets and humans. It does work well on docks, but is toxic to fish. We have used for years on our dock, and have not noticed any die off of fish. These products represent a trade off of benefits and risks. An annual application to control insects seems ressonable.

That looks very much like my ex-wife's grandmother's place near Holland. They sold and moved after she lost her husband about 12 years ago. It was pretty there.
