I bought a new boat last week

I've been looking for a boat for my kids to run back and forth from our home marina to the transient marinas we stay at most weekends. I found a really nice low hour Wellcraft center console in Miami about a month ago. I flew down and took a look at it and it looked like it was in mint condition. We agreed on a price and were heading to survey when I called my local Wellcraft dealer to check on any warranty claims on the boat or engine. Long story short...it was a Sandy boat that the original owner in NJ told them that it had been underwater for three days. For a Sandy boat to show up in Florida under the claim that it was a bank repo was enough to unnerve me and turn me off to used boats. So, back to brand new. Found what I was looking for in Richmond, VA. Bought a Wellcraft 232 Fisherman with a 200 HP Yamaha, black hull with trailer. Best part, it was only $12k more than the FL boat, has a 5 year warranty on the engine and has the trailer, which the other didn't. All in, since I trailered it home myself, the brand new, non-Sandy boat only cost me $7k more. Not a bad deal. I need to figure out how to delete pictures from my attachment list so I can post some new pics. BTW, the kids like the boat....

Sandy boats are showing up for sale on the Great Lakes also. Caveat Emptor. Congrats on the new boat, enjoy.

Congrats on the new toy Brian. Good catch in the used one. I guess it's going to take a while for all of those Sandy boats to get redistributed to unsuspecting buyers. That's a shame. What did the used boat dealer say when you informed him of the boats previous life as a submarine?
