Hurth HSW 630 loud hammering

Have major noise sounds like a chain slap inside my port tranny. It has made the noise before buit went away after cooling down? the next day? Flex plate? coupler?

My port side Hurth is noisier than the starboard (it is the side that runs in reverse). It quiets down above 800 rpm. When was the last oil and filter change? Mine also got a bit quieter after a tune up of my port engine.

I had one tranny banging last year when my boat was idling rough. I thought it was going to blow! It's gone now that the engines have been tuned. I remember reading a thread here where someone had bad noise with a rough idling engine too.

Ditto. Had loud clanging from my port tranny as well at idle that went away after tune up.

Cutlass Bearing perhaps? I had a loud sound and it turned out to be a bad cutlass bearing knocking back through the shaft.
