Hurricane Earl, anybody pulling their boat?

Left it in tied on extra lines and put out the fenders. About 50% of the boats in the marina were pulled. See what happens...

After a nice evening on the boat last night, Legal Limit was hauled out today for the storm. We'll see what happens...

For those of you leaving your boats in their slips are any of you disconnecting the shore power? I left mine on, but was half expecting the marina to tell boat owners to disconnect, however that wasn't the case at my marina.

Brian...Let me know what I should do after 2:00 pm tomorrow

Well, I think the suggestion to start with a mudslide is very sound advice. Given the current projected path I'm not sure my experience today on Fire Island is going to be very instructive for you guys in RI and on the Cape and Islands. My sense is it will be worse for you than me, but then again that is predicated on the views of weather reports, not the most reliable source in the first place. Hopefully we'll all just get brushed by this.
The sun was out when I got up this morning but some periodic heavy showers have started. It's not expected that we'll get more than heavy rain and 30-40 knot winds. At this point I'm just hoping the satellite TV and power for the fridge doesn't go out.....but....you never know, it's not over till it's over.

as long as the icemaker is running to keep the mudslides flowing.........

My boat is back in the water...

I just want to forget this whole episode...

I am taking my eisenglass down now... but only because it is going to be in the upper 70's and sunny on the Chesapeake Bay this weekend for the diesel snob meeting... YIPPEEEE!

Good to hear your boat is back in.

If you have to do it over again: Would you have pulled the boat?

Looking at the forcasts two days ago. . it certainly seemed prudent where you were located. Especially considering your insurance coverage.

That's right. Some of those gassers might show up at your snob meeting if you're not careful and dilute the membership.

Agreed. We dodged another one and have a great 3-day weekend of boating despite the dire predictions. Its a little gusty, but 78 degrees is not too bad. Each day looks better and better. Outside the harbor its a bit rough, but at least the wind is out of the WSW. I'm glad I didn't plan any trips for this weekend. I bet you have some nice swells outside the Cape.

We are staying at the dock and doing a few day trips (not on boat).....4-6 footers all weekend.....30 knot winds now.....Still a great weekend

All the wind came from Duval declaring a state of emergency, what was it Tuesday? Marina didn't put a single boat back in today and they won't all weekend. Nice wasted weekend for those that pulled.

It looked like Hyannis Marina pulled quit a few boats Thursday and had them back in by noon today.

And.... if it was the other way around???
