Hi,
I have a 2002 Searay 182 190hp Mercruiser and the last two times I have taken it out there has been this constant humming (piercing) noise. It's not crazy loud, but definitely hearable.. Both times, after about 15 minutes it has gone away. All my gauges appear fine.

Any suggestions? It's a different sounding beep then my depth finder.

Thanks

If you can track down where it's coming from, that may help. Is it a humming noise or is it a warning horn type sound? Gauges normal? Gonna be pretty hard for us to give an answer based on the info given... and the fact that not exactly right there next to you! :)

Or... maybe someone is messing with you?

I believe it's coming from the front of my boat, as I can hear it much clearer then my passengers. It's definitely a sharp piercing humming noise. Not crazy loud, but it's there. All Gauges are fine. I guess I will take it back out on the water and follow the noise to the exact spot. Thanks for the reply

First thing I can think of in the bow is the horn. Could be shorted out. Other than the bow lights, there's not even any other wiring up there in your boat.

try turning the ignition switch to the 'run' position without starting the engine to see if you can hear the noise....if so it may be easier to track it down without the engine noise...if not it is likely coming from the engine room...I once had a failing fuel pump on a car make a humming noise before it gave out completely.....identifying the direction noise originates from can be difficult sometimes....it may seem like the noise is coming from upfront but in reality it could be coming from the ER.....sound waves can and will bounce off things and get redirected....

good luck...
