How's your summer going?

The Circle of Life-Keep a good thought

Started OldSkool in May and she has been sitting on the trailer ever since. Bad weather, work and a home move has taken its toll. I haven't even had time to visit CSR for a number of months. Suck this year. Maybe I'll splash end of Aug. Just in time to start thinking about winter. :-(

I did have time to make a 18in fillet knife for a fellow in Louisiana.

That's a nice luster on the fillet knife. 18" must be for a whale!

This being our first season with this boat we are definitely enjoying it. We planned a trip with Alex,Greg for the week of July 4th. We started off on July,3rd and met in Montauk. We watched the fireworks from the beach with Johnathans (x) family. Then we headed out Sunday morning to Cuttyhunk where Greg met up with us. We made stops in lake memensha for fuel and lobster bisque.then off to Edgartown.we rented bikes and made the ride to Oak Bluffs where the kids jumped off the JAWS bridge. We cancelled our plans to visit Hyannis as the weather didn't cooperate so we decided to head to Block for the final days. As usual my buddies made this trip a huge success and very enjoyable. Here's a few pics. Can't wait for our flotilla on Aug.1st!!!!!!

Ours has been good so far. Managed to get out a few times and the last was when a fellow CSR member from NZ stayed a few days with us. Currently at LAX waiting for flight back home after our trip to China which included a cruise on the Yangtze River which was all VERY educational. Breakfast in Chongqing was entertaining:

Play Dough,

Sorry to hear that, my condolences. I got the same call from my sister on the 2nd of July last year.

This year for us has been pretty poor. Our winter ended late and in fact at the end of April I had to shovel two large snow piles from snow that had slid off the shrink wrap. I decided to remove the stripes and logos and name decals and by the end of May had that done as well as compounding and buffing. The week before Memorial Day my back started bothering me but I figured I could do the bottom paint as I only had to sit on the ground with my paint, long handled roller and a six pack. Next morning I woke up and discovered I could barely walk. Long story short I had herniated two disks in my lower spine and spent the last week in May and first three weeks in June as a near complete invalid. Amazingly enough I had a cortisone treatment that completely removed all of the pain almost overnight. We finally got the boat in the water the Monday before the fourth, although a friend had to bring it around from the boatyard to our dock. Hopefully August and September will be better.

Henry

So this year we have used it twice (less than two hours) as the weather, work schedules, and family commitments have all conspired against us.

It's been a crappy summer in New Engalnd. Mid week is dry and sunny and weekends are cold and wet. This year has been really windy as well with 20+ mile a hour winds every weekend seems like. Hopefully we have an Indian summer and we can enjoy sept and oct like last year.

Great pics Havana.

Our summer has been good, just busy.

Just got back yesterday from two weeks living on the boat. Wasn't all vacation, worked half days most days. But we still made it over to the west coast of FL, as far north as Ft Meyers.

Was on the plane last night, looking at the iPad trying to figure out where we are going next.

Being on the water is good!

Mark

Been pretty good so far. Most every weekend down at the boat with friends and family. We took a trip down to Ocean City, MD with stops in Atlantic City, and Lewes, DE. Next big trip is out to East end of Long Island then Block Island for late August.

Well mine sucks. Had the boat in the water 1 weekend and then the Indiana rains started. We have had record rain fall in both June and July. Lake has been at flood stage for the last 8 weeks. All boats had to come off of the piers due to the high water.
I will be very surprised if we get back in this summer.
2 years ago it was the opposite, we could not get in due to record lows. Boating is becoming expensive when you can use it 1 out of 3 years. Lake flood 2015 5 - Copy.jpg

Awesome video! It's been one of our best sessions yet, weather, sea conditions, lots of great cruises, and more fun to be had in September and October. Our first season with the puppy, and I can truly say he's made everything that much more fun.

Our summer has been the hottest summer on record. Too many days of 100*+ temps and no rain until one day last week when it rained for an hour or so. That's the first rain since around March. Dry as a bone and it seems like the whole state is on fire. We took an afternoon trip on the boat a couple of weeks ago http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/74964-A-nice-afternoon-oin-the-water?highlight=McNary and took some pics but there was too much smoke in the air to really enjoy being out there.

We're taking off tomorrow morning with the Whaler for a 7-day trip across the Cascade Mountains to Seattle. We're be exploring some of the fresh water areas over there. Then on the way back we're spending two nights at Paradise Lodge at Mt. Rainier. No boating on that part of the trip, just some exploring around the area.

We have one more club sponsored cruise next month, and we're also taking some "friends" we've never met (except on a boating forum) out for a day on the Columbia and Snake River. They're from Oklahoma City and are spending a 2-week RV trip around the PNW and the national parks.

This retirement stuff is lot of fun, but it sure keeps us busy.

Fairlee 5.jpgWe've been quite busy this summer with work and other things, but have been out 3-4 times this summer, so no complaints

July & August were some of the wettest months I've seen in FL for the last 30 years! Oh well, the next 10 months look promising : )

We've had an amazing boating summer here on Long Island. Sunshine every weekend, the longest stretch of 80+ degree weather since they've been keeping records, and we are at more than a 9" deficit in rainfall for the year.
Other than 3 relatively short heat waves, the humidity has been low for a good portion of the summer.
We're were more than 9" short of the average rainfall for the year as of last night.
Today may be the turning point though. It's been pouring off and on all day, and the forecast is pretty much indicating 70's for the next week.
It will likely be a slippery slope and 50's and less will be here before we know it.
But this has been the best summer as far as weather goes that I can remember for many years.
