How's your summer going?

No great videos like that one, but we have had a good summer so far. A couple of cruises up the Snake River, our Water Follies is coming up in 10 days (that is the Unlimited Hydroplane Gold Cup races), then a few more cruises and a few more parties and a LOT more fun.

Cool video. For me, this season has had the worst weather I can remember. I'm so frustrated! It's half over, and I feel like it's barely started.

What's that marina with the floating wooden docks? It looked like the old Chris World Headquarters was docked a few slips away?

Way too much rain here.

Well, it's still flooded on the lake. I haven't had my boat out but that isn't the fault of rain! In process of changing heads on starboard engine and full manifolds and risers (time to pledge "Hole in the Water Club"!) and detail er. The storms have done damage to many boats, boat houses and mine included but very minimal.

But it's still ok. I'm still able to spend weekends at the lake, we have power and water. Getting heads and parts to the boat is by sweet talking the marina ferry girl!

But my wife has a Dock she loves now and we spend a lot of time with our friends. We can still get out on the water with our SeaDoo's, so we are still having fun!

It's been great! I'm out every weekend, usually in a big raft up with friends and family! A bit more rain than I like, but at least it keeps the lake up.

Cool video BTW...

Mine has been amazing! This shot was taken by a buddy of mine from his drone at our 4th of July raft-up. Next bash is August 9th at Tice's Shoal for anyone in the NJ area!

All boats bow in? Never seen that before.

Not all, but the majority. Water levels are very high this year, but for 17 years or so, the ramps from the lot down to the floating finger level made it awkward to board boats if they sterned-in, and depth near the walls was a concern. Also, while city water is up at the bulkhead, the power & TV pedestal is mounted on the finger itself - typically about 2/3rds to the end. (there's also a pump-out hose under a trap-door under each dock!)

Then there's also the view issue - I never liked looking at a steel wall...

Hydrilla has me locked in the boathouse this week. The TVA is supposed to treat it, but been slacking.

Hmm. I thought the growth was not as bad as last year. Then again, here we are at the end of July, we'll be able to walk on the water in a couple of weeks.

As for the OPs question - We've enjoyed some really great weather weekends. Water temps are nice & we seem to catch a breeze every trip out. As mentioned earlier though, August is upon us so mid day boating is out for us. Next trip up we'll ease out of the slip around 7am & be back in by noon.

It's been a good first year for us with being out nearly every weekend and quite a few days during the week except for the 4th that was a near washout. We've also had all three of our kids with their significant other and grand sons down, along with my father-in-law being down twice. Let me clarify, their in the Cleveland & Cincy, OH area and we're in southern middle Tennessee.

We stay on Lake Normandy, TN for the most part but did go to Tims Ford one day and we're planning on Center Hill tomorrow. That's totaling up to nearly 40 clock hours, so far this year.

Just to chime in with something different, it's winter here in Perth Western Australia and to be honest this is the most I have used the boat in winter, it's been a little cold at times 17c daytime had one morning of -1.5c but in all no wind, sun has been out a lot and so far only missed 3 weekends out all season, seriously can't wait for summer and the opportunity to remind all of you in winter storage how awesome summer is :)

Pittsburgh area has been terrible. May was nice. Since early June, it has rained every weekend. The last nice weekend day, the water in the river was too high and too much debris. This goes down as one of the worst in 20 years.

TVA man called me this morning and they are treating around my boathouse Monday! Hoooraaah! Give that spray a few days to work its magic, and I'll be boating by the weekend! Of course, by the middle of August it will all be grown up again.

Hey Ho, they say you gotta go. GO GO HYDRILLA!

We were all settled in at this beautiful little cove in Lake Huron's North Channel on day 3 of our 3+ week trip.

Then the phone rang..."your father passed away this morning"...

End of trip.

It's been a summer of highs and lows. First one as a retiree. Not exactly as planned.
