How you can stimulate the economy...

The only V-8's I've ever owned are my Dodge Truck (5.7L) and my Mercedes S500 (my current "car")... I actually don't really know what's under the hood of the S500... It just weighs a lot and hauls ass.

Heck.. my boat even has 6 cyl engines...

S500 has a 5.0 litre V8. Horsepower ratings vary by year.

Best regards,
Frank

All I know is if I hit that button on the dash that turns off the traction control, I can mash the gas pedal to the floor and do donuts in the cul-de-sac... it does leave tire pieces all over the back end of the car though.

I hate when that happens. It also tends to really piss off the neighbors. Those tire chunks are part of having a white car. Funny, my Challenger was white, and the Marks were some variant of while. I guess I like to see tire pieces on the rear quarters.

Best regards
Frank

you live in a Cul-de-sac?

You should try the 55 AMG ( which may or not have been an option in your year). which is your same engine bored, hand built, custom exhaust, and supercharged. 55=5.5 liter.
there are no pieces of tires in manual mode...only smoke. A car like this nobody needs..luxury/ego/posing/...just like a boat..

Seriously though, I have alot of fun scaring the crap out of passengers when I punch the beast. I get the same thrill of putting the boat on plane...it is just a longer and more exciting moment. And nobody is scared..

I guess the Chevette thing really turned me off to "Chevy" cars....

Holy crap, 3 Chevettes:smt009. I knew people who had Chevettes, but they only made that mistake once...

I've never owned a V-8. My dad had a '73 Chevy Impala with a V-8 and Holley 4 barrel carb. Damn thing was fast.

My S60 would cruise very nicely at 110, best highway car I ever owned.

The Odyssey will do 120 easy. I did it on the way to the lake when the car was new. Hit 120 and started to slow down, my wife asked me why I was slowing down:grin:. I love her.

Sorry, random thoughts. You have to read Frank's and Gary's earlier posts to understand

We're doing lists, now?

1968 Chrysler Newport formerly my dad's, he gave it to me when I got my license. Ran it for years, then my brother ran it and gave it away @ about 140,000 miles Engine and trans strong and original
1972 Dodge Challenger RT (used) 340/4bbl Wish I still had her.
1972 Imperial LeBaron (used) Wish I still had that one too. But the body was too rusted @ 180,000 miles so it went. Engine (nice 440/4bbl) and trans were original and strong.
1983 Imperial (new) Half assed EFI system but nice style for the 1980s.
1978 Chrysler LeBaron (used) bought it as a beater. Beat on it until 185,000 miles when the trans let go. Had a rebuilt put in, but the rebuilt was worse than the original. Went to court. Junked the car after the case was resolved.
1990 Lincoln Town Car (new) 215,000 miles. Never needed anything other than normal maintenance. Traded to the dealer who sold it to a limo company that put another 150,000 on her.
1994 Lincoln Mark VIII (new wife's lease)
1996 Lincoln Mark VIII (new wife's lease)
1998 Lincoln Mark VIII (new wife's) Now mine.
1999 Lincoln Navigator (used) Bought from someone who didn't like it after they had it for 6 months. Thanks for taking the depreciation hit for me! Currently around 294,000.
2005 Jaguar Vanden Plas (new wife's)
1976 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham (new - passed down) Formerly my dad's car. He gave it to me when he didn't want it anymore. I couldn't let him get rid of an authentic RB block!

Note: Not a 4 banger or 6 popper in the list!

Best regards,
Frank

Did anyone here own a Taurus SHO? I owned 3 of those cars! I had two 1989 black ones and one 1989 red one. Man were they sweet! Sport tuned suspension, 5 speed mazda trans, 220 hp DOHC V6 Yamaha motor! Those cars did 140 mph without breaking a sweat.

Let's see if I can remember them all....

82 VW Quantum
86 Toyota Celica GT
92 Saturn SC2 - biggest POS - first and last GM vehicle
91 Miata
89 Mustang LX- wife's car when we met - 4cyl automatic... need I say more?
92 Taurus SHO - white, 5spd - wonderful car
94 Explorer
73 VW camper - bought to restore - got sick of looking at it and sold it
92 Miata
81 BMW 320i sport version - was a lot of fun - slow, but fun
95 Eagle Vision TSi - big POS - last Chrysler I'll ever buy
94 Explorer - bought to replace the other one I wrecked
97 Ford F150
93 Kawasaki EX500
97 Taurus SHO - V8, auto - not near as much fun as the 92
99 Expedition
92 Miata - track car - wish I still had this one
03 Expedition
03 Infiniti G35 Sport
06 Mustang GT conv. - still have
07 Expedition - still have
74 Bronco - still have

My wife also had a Chevette before we met - she learned after one that is was a POS... two tone brown :wow: - I wish I had a picture of it.

that reminded me that I forgot to list the BMW 850 I owned. While I had it we went on a rally in Spartanburg NC with about 100 other 8 series owners. We got to go through the BMW plant to see how they build the X5 and Z cars there.

After the tour, they let us drive the new 6 series on their test track as well as the X5 on their offroad track. The big thrill was the M5 ride with one of their test drivers. Unbelievable what those cars can do in the hands of a pro.
