My son had a soccer tournament all weekend, so I snuck out of work Thursday afternoon with a friend and headed to the boat for Thursday night. Took it down to Brielle with plans on going out to the Tiki Bar. Rough ocean took the wind out of my sails and I was too tired to go out. Got up early Friday morning (4:52) and decided it was time to go fishing! Headed back up to Sandy Hook and threw out a few lures when I saw the birds working the water. Caught a bluefish in the first 30 seconds and another one with in a 1/2 hour. Here are some pics:

Nice! We didn't get out:smt089. To damn cold!:smt009:smt013 Friends went out on their boat Sund. aft, when it was not to wavy, went across the lake to St. Albans, and then the wind changed, and white caps. They had a rough ride home. Took quite a while to get there.

I wish I could have some pics like that to post! Very nice!

My "boating experience" for this weekend was installing a new waste holding tank. The old one had sprung a leak through the nuts that are molded into the bottom (used to hold the tank in place during production). I don't think you'd want to see pics of that!

Mine was Awesome. spent 3 nights on the boat. I'll post some pics hopefully tonight.

No pix, but we took friends out for dinner and a boat ride on Friday and Saturday night. We boated on Sunday too and took Monday off as a break. Saturday was very busy on our lake. Sunday and Monday were very light. Weather was sunny, but cool and a little breezy.

I got out of work saturday afternoon and finished up the outdrive install. then got out on the lake for a little bit.

Then sunday we were out on my lake and made a last minute decision to pull the boat out and head over to another lake to finish the afternoon off. I've never seen so many empty corona bottles haha.

Yesterday was a mellow one back on my lake that ended with a BBQ over at my buddy's parents house. The highlight of the day was pushing my buddy in and going in with him. Lost my glasses and now im resorted to a 2 year old pair of contacts for a couple days.

Went to the North Coast (Fort Bragg, Ca.) for some abalone diving. The ocean was a bit upset (8-10 foot seas at 4 seconds!), which made for a very interesting ride in my friend's 26' North River pilothouse. Took blue water over the bow repeatedly while taking seas head on. Quartering the seas was ok, though the waves were so steep that making headway was VERY slow. Taking those waves directly off the beam was downright scarry. Even with following seas, this was "exhillerating", to say the least, as the boat would want to chine in when surfing down the face of the waves. Thankfully, we only had to go a few miles before tucking into a cove to find our abs. I am glad I didn't have to take my boat out there, though we did see a smallish Striper (21') and equally smallish Sunfish (?) in the same cove we went to. Not sure, what they were thinking.

Rain, rain and more rain :smt013. We have had rain 4 weekends in a row. And guess what it is raining the rest of the week :smt009. But we did get out on Memorial Day for a few hours, it was beautiful and then came the rain. Down pour for about 20 min then we headed back in.

First splash of the season, this weekend looks good though.

Took my daughter, her 2 friends and my mother out for the day. Rest of clan was away. We left from Mattapoisett through Woods Hole over to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard for some shopping. From there we headed to a favorite gunkhole on Naushon Island. However the girls insisted on some tubing along the way. Great weather, great day, great fun.

Not when I just got back 4 days ago from FL where I had 70+ degree water. That is bath water.

Perspective makes the blood thinner.
Yeah ours is 52 or so right now and it won't get much warmer. There are places though in Canada that it will get up to 70.

Yes, cold water is a whole nother world. Here, if you head to the north of Cape Cod, its 50 degrees right now. The gulf stream warms up the south side of the Cape (locally called the sound side for Nantucket and Vineyard sounds) a consistant 10 degrees over the northern waters.

Last spring I took some buddies out for a guys weekend on the boat. We went in the North Atlantic in April. It was 50 Degrees. They all went for a swim off the back.

They sure were glad I had the transom shower with hot water. :smt038

Years ago when I took my rescue diver certification, we did it in wet suits, in February in 43 degree water. Now that was a cold day. I still get chills thinking of it.

It's all relative -

THE LAKE CHAMPLAIN LAKE LEVEL AT THE KING STREET FERRY DOCK IN BURLINGTON
WAS 97.16 FEET...
AND THE WATER TEMPERATURE WAS 48 DEGREES.
Luckily, ours will climb to almost 70 or so by mid-August or so.
