Lets say that I'm interested in finding 2 words - together like Magic Eraser I'm finding way too many results back on threads containing both "Magic" and "Eraser" separately. I have tried surrounding my query with quotes "Magic Eraser", but still the same results. Am I missing something here, or is this just a limitation of the site query engine?

Sorry if this has been discussed here before - I did try and search it out :smt021

BTW - I'm finding CSR Google hits using: "Magic Eraser" clubsearay

Thanks!

Yes the sites search engine is far too inadequate. When I need to find a phrase or a "contains all key words" as opposed to any key words, I use google. However don't use clubsearay as a keyword in your search. Enter this string as a prefix to your search term in google's search box

site:clubsearay.com "enter your phrase or keywords here"

This will allow you to only search this site. One caveat, any google search will only be as fresh as the last time they crawled this site. So you may not find the "most recent" posts, but it's great for the older stuff.

Chuck, so you enter this whole thing just the way it is:

site:clubsearay.com "enter your phrase or keywords here"

And then press the spacebar once and type what we're looking for? Did I understand you correctly?

ON EDIT: Nevermind. I figured it out. I didn't read it closely enough the first time.

Perfect!! site:clubsearay.com works like a champ

Thanks Chuck!!

if you do use the search feature on the site use only one word and try to use something that would not be used very often. In your example I would search eraser. We are aware that we are less than adequate.

I vote for this being made into a sticky post. This would have saved me a ton of effort in the past had I known this.

I tried lots of searches unsuccesfully, this method is really helpfull. Im sure more people using this great site would like to know this search method. site:clubsearay.com "enter your phrase or keywords here"

Are we sure there is no other options to be turned on for the search settings?

We can't even search in specific sections of the forum and this is the only forum I belong to that won't let you.

There is many times I would like to search for something in the classic sea ray section.

Actually you can do basic searching within a forum or within a thread.

Navigate to the forum you want to seach in and then look in the top right in the gray bar. There is as a link to "Search Forum"
Search Forum.jpg

If you are viewing a thread, in the same location you'll have a button to "Search Thread".

You can also click on the "single content" tab when you're in "advanced search".

When i search like this site:clubsearay.com "260DA" some results are not about 260DA
Google find 260DA owners signature ex they reply diffrent threads

Ex "http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/47211-polishing-aluminum/page2"

lots of Lazy Daze replies it finds ;)

That is true. Just be more specific.

I have always used Google. It's nice to know the technique listed above. Thank you, Chuck.

Yes, being specific is important. If you are still wanting to find only 260DA and not Lazy Daze you can always do this...

site:clubsearay.com 260da -lazy

That will get you every 260da post without lazy in it. But that may mean you will miss a relevant 260da post that was done by Lazy Daze. Sorry Dennis....
