I have a Sea Ray 300 Mj 2002.
How can I open the engine hatch w/o electrical power? Just if batteries are down or hatch actuator is defect?
There is no handle to lift the hatch nor an access point to pull the pin in order to release the hatch actuator tube.

Mine came with a cigarette lighter plug. You can use a portable battery booster to raise the hatch, then use the booster to start the engine.

there always is access to pin
if there is no inspection plate in engine cover - cockpit table base needs to be removed.

I know that there is always a solution and that I can remove cockpit table base.
I just wondering if SR engineers had a thought about proper and professional solution for this case:huh:
There is not even a handle to lift the hatch. Has anyone tried tried to lift manually? I almost every day in the engine compartment.:smt119 I just want to know whether there is any proper Idea from your guys.

I don’t know the layout of your boat, but on mine there is an access door directly below the helm for the electronics, fuses, and breakers. There is an auxiliary fuse block there for the accessories. On this block there is both the positive and negative post for the 12VDC. If you clip jumper cables to these post and use your car battery this will provide the DC power you need to run the electric hatch lift.

The cigarette lighter plug on mine would not work for this; the wire size to it is too small for the amperage required.

I'm not sure if I was clear...This was a cig plug provided by Sea Ray. You plug it in and it gives just enough juice to raise the hatch. I don't imagine it would be that much more power for your hatch lift Hack.

Hack, we have the same boat and the cigarette-lighter plug worked just fine to raise and lower the engine hatch. Not sure why yours wasnt working but it was simple on my '05 320.

I am not sure why but I did try that method first, all I got was a clicking sound from the motors. Clipped my battery leads to the post on the aux. fuse block and it worked just great. My service guy told me they always use that method.

This cigarette plug solution would only work if the batteries wired and connected. Right? But when I winterize my boat, usually I disconnect the cables from the battery. Or if you take the batteries out of the boat during winter. How then?:smt101
Is it that the cigarette plug solution has an own circuit?
I do this because the boat will be for month w/o observation.
I just feel more safe when the batteries are not connected during this period.

No, the "cigarette plug solution" or the method I use works when you have the batteries disconnected. You are basiclly back feeding the DC buss.

This cigarette plug solution works when the batteries diconnected. You can remove the batteries and use the cigarette plug attached to one of the batteries to close the hatch.
