locate the center of the pin ,can be done visually

Drill in 3/8 ths of an inch with a #3 drill bit for 1/4 x 28 thread and tap .

using a 3/64 drill bit CAREFULLY drill approx. 3/4 to 1 inch into the housing until the magnet picks up steel shavings.STOP DRILLING. Install grease fitting.inject grease until you see it between the steering yoke and transom.

Your now done.
another measuring device is to use a 5/16 ths hex nut

The Zirc Fitting went in the very top on the Early model bravos not where you drilled it...I assume you are trying to grease the bushing. There is an upper, and lower...You will only get the lower one by doing what you did.

The only way water can get through the pin area is by the bushing BT is showing you, top bushing is not subjected to water intrusion.

The Lower Bushing shouldn't be experiencing water intrusion, if it is, that means the seal has gone bad below the bushing.

and the seal went bad because it never had grease . The cutaway pics are only 2 years old and you can see the corrosion there
