I am looking at the batteries in the 390DA. I am sure they could be made harder to get to, but not by much. Behind the fridge in the galley comes to mind.

Does anyone have a good technique for checking the electrolyte levels? It is very difficult to see into the wells on the outboard batteries.

What about replacing them? I think there is a nifty tool for picking these monsters up if they don't have straps. But once you figure out how to pick them up, what is the best way to fish them out of the engine room?

Thinking about it, I think they might have been easier to get to if they had been placed behind the fridge in the galley.....

I dont know where they are located on your 390 - but I have aided others in the past by attaching a carbiner to the handle and a rope to the carabiner (if they have a handle) or the lifting device and holding the weight from outside of the engine room while someone inside the engine room guides them out/up/in. Also seen a trick with a small inspection mirror on a wand (from harbor freight) to check electolyte level. (I went with AGM's to prevent this). Good Luck! - Jeff
