How to clear speedometer pitot

if you want to use compressed air - disconnect plastic tubing behind speedo gauge and blow it back to tubing
you can check your speedo at the same time blowing into gauge
use blow gun with rubber tip and leave a little space for extra pressure to escape or you may blow up plastic tubing

The hole is only about 1" deep that is why people use a drill bit. If it goes in with no resistance, it should be clear. What ever you push will fall to the bottom and flush out with the normal engine pump water (if so equipped).

I had the same problem with mine for a season and a half. It read low by about 10 MPH for a few months, then it didn't work at all for a few months, then it read low again for a few months. I tried to clean it with drill bits, pieces of wire, and shooting the hose at the intake ports when I washed her. One day, I had the (not so) brilliant idea to just blow in the ports. I made sure that no one was looking, stuck my lips over the ports, and blew. I got a mouthful of seawater. Use a compressor. At any rate, it was still reading low after that.

About 3 weeks before the end of last season, I looked down and saw that the speedo matched the GPS. I have no idea why it started working, but it did for 3 solid weeks. I'll find out this weekend if it still does...

Maybe it just needed a kiss.
