How to change the fuel filter on a Gen 3 Cool Fuel unit compete with pictures

I'm not sure how I missed this post when it originally came out but I can attest that that little screen filter at the bottom can and does become clogged. That filter alone is what caused all my problems described in the following threads.

When I removed it, problem solved. New one in place, all has been perfect again. I still doubt my fuel pump was bad.

That is why I just change mine too when i do the Water Sep filters. It is really strange though that there is no mention of the disc filter in the Cool Fuel Gen 3 supplement, other than seeing it in the parts diagram. Strange.....

Changed my cool fuel 3 filters and discs this morning. I’d say they were due. Inside of the unit looked good.

How many hours and year(s) on the old filters?

Hard to say. At least two seasons but I’m thinking longer than that seeing them now. I had a shady mechanic do some work on my boat a couple years back in a pinch. He changed both raw water pumps and said he did these too. Both pump pulley bearings failed after 50 hours due to the belt being too tight. Now I think he never touched these. Adding this to the seasonal to do list. Fortunately I didn’t have any fuel issues leading up to this.
