How to change impeller merc 5.7

How do I change the impeller on merc 350 5.7 motor the motor is fresh water cooling.
and having problems with gear shift for the 1985 26' sea ray sundancer, the gears shift in forword good but revirse is not good.

The impeller is not in the engine. It's in the drive, or mounted externally on the engine. Depends on your drive.
