Is there some way to block threads that are of no interest to one? I dont care what your opinion is on gun ownership, if you havent figured out your position on that by now you have serious problems. I come here for boat talk. Please move it to the holding tank or let me block it so it does not get in the way with every log on.

You can ignore people by clicking on their name and make that selection but unsure about threads.

I know it's not the cleanest way, but I'll open "those" threads as they appear in the "New Posts", then they won't pop up for a while, or at least until someone else makes another comment. Unfortunately, some of the more annoying posts get commented on a regular basis.

What is up with another one these new members that want to silence those that have been here for years?

FNG. Why don't you jump in, join a topic and make some friends. It's a friendly dock here....

There is. It’s called self discipline. Don’t click if you’re not interested.

I think it might be a bit of the NG coming into a boat forum and seeing most of the traffic is from heated politically-motivated posts. I joined only a year ago, so I got into the whole POTUS and COVID mess, but I also got a bunch of great help from many of you. The NG should just focus on what they're looking for and ignore the static. Or, see it as great entertainment to watch from the sidelines.

NJlarry has participated in non boating threads, shared his views on a variety of subjects. Apparently he doesn't like the gun topic, he says it gets in his way...WTF does that mean?

But it doesn't surprise me...he has a 400DB and whined about that thread because when he wants to read about one area of his boat he doesn't want to have to see anything about any other part of it. It's so, so difficult for him...just too hard for him to follow. That's what he said.

Are you serious?? JUST DON'T OPEN THEM! How hard is that?

I am not trying to silence anyone but my God if Elmer has not figured that one by now, he never will. I understand new world events are interesting and some of us may want discuss them with friends here but second amendment issues have been around for over two hundred years! A person either gets it or he dosent. Like discussing tea vs coffee. Time to move it to the holding tank...imho.

What an extremely narrow minded comment. Some folks enjoy taking about "other" things. As far as the firearms conversations, I've brought many non-interested people into the pro 2A fight by talking about it and showing them how important it is. Silence is acceptance.

I hate tea… it’s like hot brown water
Oh, good a tea thread. It is exactly hot brown water. But then coffee is black water, right? ;)

I drink coffee in the morning. But at night, especially in the winter time, I like a cup of tea. I find it soothing and relaxing in a way that coffee isn't for me. My wife and kids usually like a cup of Lipton. I like to mix it up, and Twinings make a nice mix pack including English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Lady Gray, and some others. If I could only pick one it would be Irish Breakfast, followed by Lady Grey and Prince of Wales blend.

To the original question, I've seen the gun thread, the COVID thread, and some others. Are they in the "right" place? Maybe not. I simply choose to ignore those threads.

Once in a while I venture over there to see some of the opinion, but generally its not my...cup of tea. The arguments are interesting, but so far has not been compelling to me so I just leave it alone.
