Excuse my ignorance but is this the proper way to attach a ski rope?

any way that it stays attached to the boat is proper to me ;) haha.. I have done it like that though just fine.

Not quite. I don't have a picture but you take the leading edge of the loop through center ring and over the prong. Then under the ring, up through the loop and over the prong.

Last year the rope was constantly falling off the hook. I checked my Sea Ray manual and there's no information in there.

Sorry, I don't get your description, perhaps a drawing?

As Searide said. In your picture imagine bringing the loop in the rope one more time around the ring before attaching it to the prong. I hope that helps.

I wish my boat had the ring - any ideas on how to attach a tow rope if all you have are the two cleats on each side of the transom? I was thinking about 1 rope to go between the cleats maybe with clips on each end and then the tow rope attached in the middle - either so it could slide some or be completely fixed in the middle. Thoughts?

That is an easy one. Just get one of the tow harness. I posted a picture on another topic of the one I use from time to time.

Thanks Chuck1 - did a search and found it while you were putting it up. I like the idea of having something already made - so this is great.

tc,

I'll get a picture for you over the weekend.

The ski tow prong of my 230 is pitched forward. So, feed the loop (aft side) over the prong, wrap it under the ring, back through the loop and over the prong.

Here you go.

Yep, that is it. I was going to take some pictures myself today. Thanks Charlie.

FYI, Not topic related. I pulled into to the driveway after an errand and saw my son (age 6) and his buddy (same age) jumping off of the dock while being supervised by my wife and neighbor. Couldn't believe it. The water is still very cold!!!!!! They did not stay in long.

Yep, it is still cold up here too. I think water temp today in the lake was 42. I really meant too take pictures of the ski rope hookup when I got off the boat today.
