How often should I change fluids in V drive?

I've got the same ones. Says right on the plate... "1,000hrs or 12mos".

I'm struggling to get to 100hrs in a season, let alone 1,000. My mechanic said not to worry about it every year as it's not worth it. I put mine on a 4yr schedule.

I’ve had my 320DA for 3 years now and I just keep learning. Fortunately for me, the boat was in fantastic condition when I bought it. I am trying to keep it that way. Impellers, oil and filters, zincs, are all regular maintenance items. The transmission fluid hasn’t been. But the boat runs great and I haven’t had any issues. Still, it’s been three years and 200 hours , so it’s time. And now it will be part of my annual maintenance ritual.

Take this FWIW....I change my transmission oil and filter every year, whether or not I get to the hours interval. My thinking is that for $40 in oil ( 2 gallons 40W) and a $35 filter it's cheap insurance. I also do an oil analysis every year for the transmissions. Another $15 worth of comfort. I'm not sure what a tranny overhaul or replacement costs but $90 a year (per transmission) is cheap insurance to help avoid that.
