Boat Launching Procedures

So here it is.

He bought a new boat and decided to take'er for the maiden voyage.

It was his first boat and he wasn't quite sure of the exact procedures for launching it off a ramp,
but figured it couldn't be too hard.

He consulted his local boat dealer for advice, but they just said "don't let the trailer get too
deep when you are trying to launch the boat"...

Well, he didn’t know what that meant, he could barely get the trailer in the water at all!

Anyhow, here's a picture below. See for yourself.

You're gonna love this guy!!!!!!!

Picture got lost somewhere

Sorry about that one guys, but the picture appears on my machine in edit view mode and normally. I just pasted the whole thing from an email rather than linking the picture separately. Thanks Jack for helping me out.

I got one better. This guy my dad knows bought a boat a few years back. test drove it with the dealer to learn how everything operated. during the test drive everything was perfect, running smooth.

Next time he took the boat out, things just didn't seem to run as well. boat was slow, tough to plane, just didn't feel quite right.

Turns out, when he launched the boat, he forgot to remove it from the trailer. His maiden voyage the trailer was attached to the bottom of the boat.

I haven't heard that one in probably about 10 years! Last time I heard it, though, it was accompanied by a picture of a blonde in the boat, with a mechanic looking into the water from a dock (and seeing the trailer). Apparently, she stated the same thing your dad's "friend" did.

Always good for a laugh, though! :smt001

Local marina guys where telling me about a guy who mounted some equipment in his boat. Couldn't figure out why his boat wouldn't come off the trailer at the ramp??? Figured out he'd drilled thru the bottom of the boat into the trailer bunks! Trailer straps optional I guess.

Seems the tec's at merc school tell the same urban legend story every year. *************************************************************
I worked for dealership years ago and we got a call from a new customer "at the launch ramp" complaining his boat wood not come off the trailer. Sure enough after bringing the boat back to the shop, we slid the forks under the hull and lifted boat & trailer off the
deck !!!! Seems the "minim wage" rigger wanted to do a real good job at mounting the seats and used extra long lag bolts -- Right Thu the haul into the trailer bunk boards ************* TRUE STORY ************
