I have a 180 BR, on a single axle trailer with tire size ST 175/80/D13. I never load any weight in the boat aside from gas. How fast can I run down the interstate without worring about a blow out? Our speed limit here is 75MPH

Take a look at your trailer tire sidewalls - they may have a max speed listed. The smaller tires will generate more heat since they will turn more RPMs at a given speed than their larger counterparts so keep that in mind.

Most states limit towing speed to 60 mph. Most tires are rated at 65 mph. As mentioned above, check the sidewall for max mph.

Wow, Thanks for all the info guys! I noticed Before the ST175/80/D13 ther are these numbers. B78-13 Is that anything special, I also noticed my sidewalls have some small cracks all the way around Not one big crack but a bunch of small ones, does that mean my tire is about to go? Or is that just weather marks from the winter? Sorry to ask so many question, This is just my first trailer so never had to deal with any of this!

Check the last link posted and it will help you read the manufacturers code on the tires. The code will tell you how old the tires are. There are many variables like over/underinflated, overloaded, overheating, parked in the sun and the manufacturer that will all affect the service life of youre tire. The fact that the outer carcass is cracking doesn't necessarily mean they are going to go right now, but it is a sign and you should be looking for some replacements.

The last four digits of the code on your tire indicate the week and year your tires were made, so a code like 0101, means they were manufactured in the first week or 2001.

Those cracks you see could mean the tire is starting to dry rot. How severe is the cracking?

Wow thanks guys! Yea the cracks arent very deep and are just a bunch or realy short little ones. Maybe I'll just pick up a new tire and keep one of them thats on now for a spare! they were on there when I got the boat so no idea how old they are. My spare in brand new because trailer didnt have one so I had to buy rim and tire. It's a Carlisle: Sport Trails
