Saw some off-topic chatter in another thread about the drive to your boats and thought it would be an interesting discussion.

I drive an hour and a half one way to get to my boat. It's all 4 lane highway, so not a bad drive at all. During our short 5 month season, I'll leave after work on Friday and drive up to the boat and not return until Sunday evening. I do this every weekend. I mix in a few vacation days during the summer and leave Thursday evening.

Our marina is 3 miles, and about 5 minute drive from home.

I drive an hour and fifteen minutes one way to get to my boat. A mixture of back roads, state highways and a 4 lane highway, so not a bad drive at all. Just far enough that I am not going "When am I ever going to get there?", but not close enough that I am tempted to go home.
During our short 6 month season, I'll leave after work on Friday and drive up to the boat and not return until Sunday evening. I do this virtually every weekend, although with COVID and working from home (or boat) this last season, I would head to the boat on either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings for the remainder of the week.

I am at 1 hour and 14 min. being about a mile and a 1/2 closer. :)

Considering I used to drive that long for work 2x a day, it's a piece of cake.

To our old house in Catawba was 1 hr 45 minutes from my home in Canton if I took the turnpike. If I took the back roads it was 2 hrs and some change.

1.5 hours each way. Combo of 4 lane highway, 2 lane country road, and about 20 miles of the worst, God-foresaken stretch of interstate know as "66". To top it off, you're in Northern Virginia, home of the worst drivers on the East Coast. Don't even think about trying to get to the boat before 9:30 AM. And if you aren't heading west by 3:00 PM during the week, you may as well crack a few more beers and wait till 7:00.

But I love it!

About 10 minutes down to the marina here in North Vancouver where we live.

This time last year we were flirting with moving the boat down to Point Roberts WA which is a little peninsula south of Vancouver completely detached from the US. (You have to drive through Canada to get to or from mainland US). It’s roughly a 45 minute drive from our place. Moorage facilities are better, cheaper, and The Gulf Islands and San Juan’s are only 12 NM away ..some of our favorite cruising grounds. (Right now we have to go about 40NM to get to some of our favorite islands.). In any case, so glad we didn’t move as we would have been completely cut off from the boat all last summer with the pandemic. So many stories I heard of Canadians not being able to use their boats south of the border. Boating was a life saver for us this year. I think we’ll stay put for the time being and foreseeable future.

Since that was my thread ..... :D

About 30 mins. There are cheaper marinas at 40-45 mins but I like the shorter drive, for us and our guests. Plus it's closer to restaurants, auto parts stores etc.

We drive 3-1/2 hours.. usually leave Thursday, Friday morning at the latest and come home Monday. We usually stop at a great little sports bar in Defiance Ohio for lunch on the way home.
If you want to boat you don’t have much choice... we live on a small lake and had a 240/260 Sundecks on it for 8 years...kids grew up and we just lost interest... so a move up in size and a real lake was our next move.

Why did you choose Lake Erie instead of Lake Michigan, since you live in Indy that would only be 2-1/2 to LM? Just curious...

40 minutes for me. Really attractive commute when you need to perform maintenance. At the marina in East Chicago it’s a quick 5 minutes out of harbor and you’re on the big lake. Come on spring!
