How do you Northerners do it?

This makes me appreciate our Seattle weather even more. Every time I hear people complain about the rain, I'm reminded that we can still go boating almost year-round, especially with a boat that has a hard-top, fully enclosed glass windshield and heat/AC. The only time we can't go boating is when the wind kicks up and then it gets a bit sporty but other than that, we're good to go nearly year-round. We're getting our aftercoolers serviced right now so the boat is out of commission for a couple of weeks but I'm glad to get this done before our next yacht club cruise later this month. I'm wishing for no more snow for our CSR members in the Northern climates!!

Aye ...far north here in the PNW, but year round boating for us for sure. Just got done with the annual haul out, but other than that she’s in the water ready to go anytime. Over the late fall/winter/early spring we maybe use her once a month, but from end of April through early October, almost every weekend. I definitely feel for all of you at the same latitudes back east. The season is just around the corner!

It's a miserable existence. No hurricanes though. Our boats are practically brand new at 20 years old compared to those pour hulls down in Florida!

That's about all the good I can find to say this week. I had to shovel my deck yesterday....on April 4th....it's enough to drive a man to drinking. April snows are so demoralizing.

Our Spring has been all over the place. 80’s one weekend and storming the next. Supposed to head out for the weekend at a marina with our group but the “pineapple express” is heading our way for Friday and Saturday with high winds and a couple of inches of rain. We may wait it out until late Saturday AM and still go. No snow or freezing temps at least!

The hood was wet.:) It'll be 13 years old in the fall, rust chunks are starting to fall off if I slam the doors to hard.
LOL, Mine's 20 plus ('97) and the rust is pretty much done falling off. I don't need to open the door to see the ground. Still runs excellent though! It pushes the snow.
Can't wait to get back in the water!!

I don't know ...we go to Key west every year in February for a few weeks... Been doing it for years. If I had a choice I think I would stick with the four seasons... We boat hard in the summer (April to the end of October)..and I sort of look forward to parking the boat for the winter. That is when we travel... visit our friend's homes... Go to football games..snowmobile...ice fish... Have friends and family to the house... .. Come March I can't wait to get the thing back in the water.... It's like Christmas ...it wouldn't be the same if it was everyday year around.

The pic above for some of us is "WTF?... It should be spring?!?!"

Don't feel sorry for us ... We got this Northern thing!

From another part of the world - but I don't think I would bother owning a boat if I had to put up with a boating "season", winterising, shrink wrapping, bilge heaters, lifting, storage, and then the reverse of all that to get the boat ready for the coming season. Must be a hassle :(.

I've never even seen snow, or even ice unless its in my drink or esky/cooler :p.

If I could post a friendly American middle finger I would...haha

Cheers!

That is an amazing picture! I have grown to dislike the cold, but how pretty is that?!

Boom Days today! It's another little party we throw to celebrate getting the ice off the lake, the start of boating season, (or at least the ability to launch a boat into something liquid), and because we're bored and always looking for a reason to party on.

I've been working on the interior of the boat for over a month now, crawling though the shrinkwrap. Planned to remove last weekend but too cold. High of -3 C today so still pushing it.

Biggest hassle is finding a weather window to wax and bottom paint during low temperatures so that I may launch early May. The boat was already floating last year at this time.

Truth be told I'm fairly certain my house would fall apart if I were able to boat year-round. I can barely keep up with my lawn during boating season! Let alone all the rest of it.

Get rid of the lawn!

We got ours out of underground storage about 3 weeks ago. Bought everything I need to get it ready but haven't been able to touch it. Woke up to about 2-3" of snow this morning. No 'need' to winterize with it underground but I do anyway, thankfully. Supposed to be about 22* tonight.

I guess the place we store it requires everything to be out today so hopefully the boat owners winterized.

Why is it that I sense humor & sarcasm in the threads original question?

I enjoy my 3 months of boating........
