How do you guys up north do it?

Nice! Don't forget your 18 Pack.

I plan on doing some ignition switch replacement on my girl some time over the holidays. Then I'm going to take the family on a christmas cruise in the 70 degree weather! "I'm dreaming of a white christmas" is still a great song though!

May your days be merry and white my friends...:smt001

You can walk on water up here if the temperature and conditions are right. Only thing you need is a pair of cross country skiis and trail like the one below that I can ski to from my back yard!:smt038

We got 15 inches of snow last week. Almost got my Nissan Titan stuck on the hill into our marina. Wanted to make sure I got all the snow off of my baby. Brought her home to put some anti freeze in the block today. Supposed to have low 20's all week. It was a sad afternoon listening to the engine humm to warm up. She fired right up in the 30 degree weather. I believe she still wants to play in the River. Alas, I winterized and covered the prop. I may keep her home for a few days just to admire her. I did get personalized coozys, hat, windbreaker and key rings from Santa. Bring on the warm weather. The Potomac is too yucky right now to be in.
I'm done whining now. It was just rough putting her to bed.

Just bought a dinghy off Craigslist....what to do up North in December?.....try it out!

Wow! Thanks for the video! I can see you have brainwashed your son into the boat nut fraternity! Either that or he was grounded and you made him go out in december in a dingy!!

He loves boating as much as I do......it was actually 40 degrees and dead calm.....had the lake to ourselves except for a lone fishing boat.

Nice Picture Andy--real cool shot. I still prefer boating weather year round and I can drive for an hour to do snow stuff.

You're lucky. By the time I'm retired and would consider moving to warmer climates, I may be too old to do the sledding routine (a lot harder than boating). I only enjoy the deep snow stuff (UP of Michigan or out west) which is not for the faint of heart.

I'm scheduled up in the UP in February 2010 for our annual sledding weekend at my buddies cabin on the lake. If you've never experienced the UP, it's something everyone should do at least once before they pass. It's God's country up there. It's so beautiful and quiet. The air is fresh. The wildlife is amazing. And it's the only place I've ever seen +10' of snow. The snow just towers over cars and trucks. Amazing.

My church has a camp in Newberry we had wait untill mid may before we could get in there due to the snow. They say they get around 300" a year!

In the midst of a great storm now! We've got over a foot of light fluffy powder in the past 24 hrs, and it's still snowing hard! They have storm warnings out till tomorrow morning, sayinig this snow will continue at least thru then. There is also snow predicted (a trace to 2" each day) till Thursday this week.

Went for a snowshoe hike in the woods in the dark last night out in back of my place with my 23 yr old son. Up and down some good sized hills. Snow was almost 2' deep already. That was fun! He had so much fun, he got some friends and his 19 yr old brother, and they did it again (bigger loop - younger kids) at 11PM!

Post directions to your house, I'm waxing my skiis right now. I think you are about 7 hrs away by land?

Hack... Road trip! Stop at Midway and pick up some supplies. I'll be right there to pick you up.

LOL - It's going to take you longer than that to get here by car... if the roads were clear, sure, unless you have AWD/4wd and really good snow tires! The trip up to the ski area today will be almost twice as long (prob an 45 mins to an hr) with the roads as they are this morning.

Funny thing is, I'm on a flight to Miami in the morning for a week.

:( I'm hoping my flight's cancelled, and I get a ski day!!! But, I think the Burlington airport will have this cleared up by noon today and flights back on schedule after that.

Off to snowblow the driveway, take 3 from this storm! They're expecting the snow to continue till about Wednesday night. with a trace to anywhere from 2-6" each day.

some pics - a little grainy shooting thru screen windows on some.

My birdfeeders - barely visible, tipping under the weight of the snow.
