How do you feel about speed limits on Lake Winnipesaukee?

Having frequented that lake for many years, as a child and adult, I understand the dilemmas up there as it has become a lake full of reckless abandon by ignroant boaters. It's too bad, because there are so many competent boaters and well meaning locals and vacationers that are suffering from it all.

My last trip up there was 2 years ago, with my current boat. I avoid that area at all cost now, as the local marine patrol, overly ridiculous rules and regulations, and reckless boaters have taken all the fun out that area for me and my family.:smt013

They don't seem unreasonable. In Missouri we have a nighttime speed limit of 30 MPH. Personally, I've never felt the need to exceed that. And I can count on one hand the number of times I've broke 45 MPH. Of course I don't have a go-fast either.

We have had them on Lake George for many years...It keeps the poker runs at bay and seems to send the yahoo's to nearby lakes for thier speed runs. They only enforce it if you are being reckless or if the lake gets crowded.
It will be a good thing. Gone are the days of going as fast as you want, when you want.
